I have an alert set to show up in my email from the local paper for any big news.... and that seems to be everything from a busted water main break -- to a company laying off 10 employees-- to Obama coming to Columbus for the swearing in of a new police acadamy class..... ( stimulus money saved the cadets from layoffs) --- to signing a good recruit for the Buckeys football team. I guess I have a different idea of stop the presses news. While these are all news worthy--- is it really BREAKING NEWS???? The media has become so dramatic that a state of frenzy occurs for anything and everything. Thoughts? |

There is no way that I could possibly agree with you more.
"News" nowadays is synonymous with a never-ending stream of unconnected, unanalysed out-of-context random bits of drivel. |
Amen. I agree with both of you. |
I couldn't agree more. The artificial "news" created to fill a 24-hour news cycle is ridiculous.
I don't watch tv much anyway, but during the election last year I bounced from CNN, to MSNBC to Fox, figuring somewhere in there lies the truth.... After watching, it's no wonder our country has ADD! As Ron said, it's a random, frantic stream of data, with no context or in-depth discussion to frame it. Breaking news.......some celebrity blew his nose........UGH! Laurie and Oscar |
