I am starting my research on getting an OES but was wondering how they would do in a tropical environment. The puppy would be kept indoors with ample AC but I would love to take it hiking and for long walks. Is it possible to own one in a hot climate if I keep its coat short? Thank you so much for your help. Melissa |

Hi! I live in Florida and usually leave my OES Violet in full coat. Violet has assess to come and go in to the a/c at will. Of course you have to use common sense in the warmer weather, out on walks during the early morning or evenings. Violet loves to lay outside under the Banana Tree leaves and the Chinese Palm all summer long.
My Aussie, China, has a heavier coat then Violet and sometimes she will come in the house, after napping in the sun, where her coat is hot to the touch. So important, water, shade and access to a/c. |
My husband and I go to Key West every spring. We've made friends with a woman there who has a glass shop. She has a sheepie, named Dakota. Dakota seems just fine living in paradise!!! |
