Do your puppies sometimes just skip a meal?

Today chiquita didn't want any lunch and now it's about dinner time and she still doesn't want to eat anything. Should I be worried? Why wouldn't she be eating?

I didn't understand either since I've only had food lovers my entire life!!!!!!!

But my puppy skips lunch or doesn't eat a lot of it A LOT! Everyone tells me it's fine and as long as all other things are normal (activity level, drinking water, etc) then it's fine.

My dog just isn't food driven and I guess wants to eat only until full.

with a very young puppy, and if its new behavior, one meal I wouldn't think anything of it, two I would be concerned, three and I would be calling the vet.

You will also find when they are ready to give up the mid day meal they will start picking at it or ignoring it.

But the dog's differ. I have one dog, who as people here know, if he skips one meal I call the vet (and I have been right he has had pancreatitis when he did it. the other one can go two days with very little food - has always been that way and I am not concerned. If she will take her favorite treat (liver) I let he go on her own way.
Sometimes they don't eat as much when they are at a plateau in growing. Fortunately, my dogs seem to have more control of their diets that I do of mine! That is of course except for Mariah who would eat until the bag was empty if she could get to it! No, actaully, all my dogs, when they were younger & still growing, would skip a meal now & then. Once they are adults, their 2 meals a day seem to become the focal point of their lives. Then when they skip one, I keep a close eye on them & if they skip the next one or only nibble at it, it is off to the vet!
ahh that makes sense. Well...she's eaten about 1/2 a cup of food since her breakfast today. In all she's had 1 1/2 cups of food...so, she's not starving.

I keep meaning to check with you to see if Mariah is back somewhere in Morgan's pedigree. He is the only dog I have ever had that will eat his dinner and then cry for more - followed by barking and yipping. I have started feeding him in sections just so he thinks he is getitng more. I also am thinking of buying a few extra Kongs and freezing portions of his meals.
