I pulled on the ear hairs and none came out. Is it just too early to have a lot of hair in there? |

I'd start swabbing the outer ear now more as a training issue than expecting to find great gobs of gunk. While there, look and see if something needs to be plucked. By having this done weekly he'll accept future work when there's something more than needs to be done.
If he's mainly a house dog and not digging to China in the back yard, his ears won't get as dirty as my guys'. |
We start plucking the ear hairs on our puppies at about 1 month of age. Sometimes sooner if they need it. Some dogs need it more often than others. As a rule around here, ears get cleaned & plucked weekly. It's part of the regular grooming cycle. They get brushed, ears plucked & nails trimmed as well as hair between the pads of the feet done weekly. |
Start now, that way it's easier when he/she is full grown. I started Obe as soon as I got him. Brushing, nails, ears, pads, etc. He now will let me do anything without a fuss he just lays down...except teeth cleaning, tried it and I will pay to have it done. |
