Don't forget! |
Anyone going? |
I'll be there...with bells on! Yet another great event!!! |
And you can come even if you don't have a rescue Old English Sheepdog. Last year there were 118 sheepdogs....and some mostly's, wannabes and good friends of sheepdogs as well as 178 uprights that came to the picnic.
Donna Couture, the picnic coordinator has arranged for a grooming demonstration (Sandy and Kay Woodard have cheerfully answered EVERY question that I've asked ). They will put your dog on a grooming table and actually SHOW you ways to take care of problems areas....such as grooming and trimming the backside of your dog. I believe that there is also going to be CGC testing and agility demos. Not to mention that you get to meet a lot of great dogs...oh and their uprights also I'm hoping to get a chance to meet some of the people that have been posting on this board. And to see Ron, Joan and Mulligan again. Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Abigail |
To answer in public the PM I received.... YES! We are planning on going to the NEOESR picnic this year - health permitting it should be a great time again! Such a HUGE setup of TENTS I have never seen for an event like this. We all stayed nice and dry under the tents during some rain.
Simply amazing! My brother and his wife and 7 pound sheepdog wannabe showed up for a while. Oh yeah, and there were sheepdogs, too! Lots and lots of sheepdogs! |
I think it's the most OES that weren't in show coats that I've ever seen at any one given event we've ever been!!
If memory serves, I believe someone told me that over 100 OES were there.... I can't wait to go this year. We weren't able to make it up there last year, but we're excited to see all of our friends 2 and 4 legged this time around!!! I'll see you there Ron! |
Baloo and crew were there last year.... but this year we are not able to make it.
I hope everyone has TONS of fun!!! |
I have been hoping all day to see someone post about the picnic. How was it? Any pictures? We had a nephew's high school graduation, so we missed it. Hopefully, next year we'll finally make it. |
Yes, inquiring minds want to know |
Hi:
The NEOESR rescue picnic was fantastic. There were agility walk throughs (with people that showed you how to get your dog to use the agility equipment), rally walk throughs, CGC testing for anyone that thought their dog was well trained enough to pass (I think 9 dogs took the test..and passed), the hat contest (you've got to see some of the pictures of the costumes people made their dogs wear). And lots and lots of food! Hopefully this one of the leader of this forum will appear. http://neoesr.org/picnic09/images/RonCarenJoan-300.jpg You can also go to http://neoesr.org/picnic09/ to see a lot of other pictures. I do know that more pictures will be added over the next couple of days. Jennifer, Baxter, Cassiopia and Abby |
Great pics! It looks like everyone had a great time. |
no to far for me but i would love to make it some day. all have fun wish i could be there. |
Loved the Pics! Looks like loads of FUN!! |
Ron & Joan, You look GREAT in that PHOTO.
Looks like the NEOESR picnic was a blast as usual. Maybe some day it would be in a different month than June, and I'll actually be able to go. |
Thanks for the update - nice picture too
How was the turnout?? It looks like a nice day for the event. |

I think turnout was very light this year; I'm thinking it may have been about 2/3 of last year's crowd. I enjoyed chatting with eveyone I could find! I was especially happy that Grannie Annie looks and says she feels a lot healthier than she was in January which is wonderful. Joan, Mulligan and I skedaddled a little early as I wanted to stop and visit my sister in law who had been (uninjured physically) in car accident the day before. The weather was perfect! |
BTW Ron....since you all were chatting with Caren did you
remind her to join oes.org She has told me a gazillion times she is going to have me help her get on when she was right there with the fella that could help her out! Time to remind her again! |
Reminded, begged, cajoled. If only I could recall her email address, I'd sign her up myself! |
You got it! |

I have been contacted by NEOESR's Picnic chair/coordinator/planner/everything Donna Couture who apparently has been made aware of my libelous post , and she informs me there were actually 141 people and 91 dogs this year.
Compared to last year's 171 people and 118 dogs, that was only 30 (17.5%) fewer people and 27 (29.7%) fewer dogs than last year. I am also reminded there was a forecast for rain this year. I stand humbled and corrected. Thanks Donna! |
