He usually comes in and sits at the bottom of the steps on his rug when he is done outside. This time, I open the door. No Max. I go outside and yell. No Max. I yell again. NO MAX. Around to the front of the house... NO MAX. I am in panic mode by now. I come in the house and call next door to my sisters. Is he over there? NO MAX. More panic. I grab a coat and rush outside. I have on slippers. In the snow. It is 20 degrees. Where is he???? I run around the house like a crazy person. I run to the barn, and there I spot him. Lying motionless in the snow out in the field. MAX I yell. MAX. Nothing. Please let him be ok. By this time I am in full blown panic, having a heart attack mode. I run towards him as fast as I can. He doesn't move at all. I finally reach him. "He" is a mound of snow that has started to melt. I bust out bawling, and when I turn around, guess who is behind me. WILL THE REAL MAX, PLEASE STAND UP??? My niece Kyleigh had come across the other field to help me look, and she spotted Max poking his head out of the door of the garage. He must have been laying in there the whole time, behind my car, or something. I don't know, but let me tell you..... OH let me tell you...... John came home - and after hearing the story worried that his hearing was bad. We let him out, let him get down the lane, called him, and he came running. His hearing is fine. I think in my panic state I may have walked right over him.... What a day. |
