Anyway, the car will be paid for at 100% and SF will cover the rental I've had because my car obviously wasn't driveable. This has been a major pain in my butt and I'm glad there is finally some action. I look forward to getting my faithful Civic back, although I have been enjoying driving the Malibu. But it ain't over til it's over. I still don't trust SF and they will probably drag their feet calling the body shop with the go-ahead (the people at the body shop have been wonderful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Shout out to Rte. 38 Motor Works in West Chicago!). |

Ugh. When I had my accident (not my fault either) I remember being very bitter that I had to spend so much of my time attending to the details. Its a pain in the tush. I'm just so happy you're ok, Paula. You do have to stay after all insurance companies, not just SF. In these hard times, they do not want to pay anything...and will drag their feet for as long as they can. |
This is not the first time I have heard BAD about SF.
Glad you posted it. Hope no one else has them. I had a friend who had a fire (not her fault) and they messed her up bad. Beware!!!!! |
I have to defend SF. I have them. And they were wonderful when I had my accident. They paid everything quickly, and are going to battle with "A" to recoup from the guy that hit me. Nothing is ever all bad, or all good. |
The woman who hit me admitted to me and the police officer that it was her fault. When I called her insurance company the next morning to "open the claim," I was told she was on the other line reporting the accident. Then, for 2 weeks, I'm told "they haven't been able to reach her." Huh? And what a coincidence that they called to tell me they are paying 100% the day AFTER I called my insurance company.....
Methinks they were stringing me along and that they got a not so nice call from my insurance company..... |

Your insurance seems to work different over there in the States.
Here your car is repaired by your insurers and then they claim it back off the other party once liability has been resolved if that is the case. |
We've had SF for many many years and i have only one bad experience with them....... and it is on my Homeowners insurance. With my car accident all was okay.
i'm sorry your having a bad time with it, I hope your feeling okay and all will be better soon. |

Methinks they were stringing me along and that they got a not so nice call from my insurance company..... Paula, you should have called YOUR insurance company first. They would have paid for everything, and then gone into subregation (spelling?) with SF, and you would not have had to deal with any of it, and the car repair payment would have been made immediately. Your company would have known it was not your fault, so your premiums would not have been effected. Having your insurance company handle all of it is why we pay premiums. Not just to collect. They work for you. |
Even if I claimed it through my insurance, I would still have to deal with all the calls, etc. Plus pay the $500 deductible out of my pocket and wait to get reimbursed. So it's really a rock and a hard place. Either way it's been a lot of aggravation and anxiety. I asked my insurance agent if my rates would go up if I claimed it, and she said "if they did, it would just be a little." So no guarantee that they wouldn't go up, even though the other person was liable.
I hate insurance companies. All of them. They play on our fears and love to take your money. I have no loyalty to any of them and have no problem changing if I get a better rate. |
The previous year I was hit twice within a 6 wk period. Both drivers were 100% at fault and the second accident involved a young woman racing out of a side street into rush hour traffic to a busy road and hitting my van. Her car was totaled while my van had some minor damage to the side.
The first accident a young lady was text messaging and hit me from behind while I was the sixth car back from a red light on a bright sunny afternoon. The first time my neck hurt from whiplash, the second time my neck went side to side. I spent the summer going to physio. The pain in my neck started 3 days after the accident and in the second one I had a "floating rib injury". Pain in the butt as I can no longer carry 40 pound bags of pet food which as you know is crutial for me with all my critters. Anyhow long story but our insurance providers keep our files open for up to a year just in case we experience after effects or pain from the accident. I was a bit peeved at my insurance provider as I spent the summer going to physio and felt it was fair I be reinbursed. They dragged their feet and I ended up calling a lawyer (accident lawyers are free of charge and only take a small portion of a claim). I really didn't want to sue anyone and was not being greedy just wanted reinbursement for physio. This week I recieved a letter from the lawyer after months of not hearing anything...they offered me 16,000 dollars. OMG!! Despite that substantial amount I would rather have the ability to continue to lift bags of sand, bricks, wood like I did in the past and would trade that anyday than $. I don't know how it works in the US but perhaps if you tell the insurance providers you are considering getting a lawyer they won't be dragging their feet? Good luck and hugs from me. Marianne |
My insurance, SF, actually recommended I get an attorney for my bodily injury. |
