NBC has excluded PETA's commercial from running during the superbowl ........reason its too sexual. LOL it shows naked women making out with veggies. Aspargus, broccoli, pumpkins to name a few. The radio station was going nuts about it this morning. [Sorry, no links to PeTA, please -Ron] |

It's available to watch. No, I'm not posting a link. Yeah, it's too suggestive and it will be hard to look at an asparagus clump again without thinking about it. Small pumpkins may also be banned from my mind.
Is it a publicity stunt? Sure. Getting banned by NBC is no big deal. The clip is on YouTube and hits the audience it wants.......young people. This is the same PETA that suggested Vicks get a brain scan and psychiatric exam to prove he can show remorse before he can get back into the NFL. |

Goodness me, me too!! And I've always hated cooking, thought it was boring. You live and learn. |
I was tempted to leave the link up against my better judgement, but then I followed it and watched the commercial.
Virtually without a pause, a second video started playing complete with slaughterhouse footage. All I can say is that PeTA never disappoints my expectations of them. |

I posted that from work sorry for the guest post. I think that commercial really shows what crazy people are involved in PETA. UGHl. |

Having spent part of the weekend planning my vegetable garden, I couldn't bring myself to watch the thing, but it got a fair amount of press on anti-dog legislation lists where the general consensus was that it was rather brilliant of them to save themselves a few millions dollars by submitting something they knew would be rejected so they could make a big stink about it being rejected, put it up on their own site and draw people in that way.
Of course - and in keeping with a family forum here, I shall try to be delicate - the core message that "Vegans have better - hm - relations" must surely fall short of the mark. I know my first reaction was "OK, sure, if you say so. But if it's with vegetables, who cares?" That's really taking their hatred of humankind to a self-defeating level. Though it would be good news for the rest of us if that's their definition of "relations", because at least they won't be able to reproduce Kristine |
Heheheh well... ummmm...
I thought the spot itself was great, and I think its style and content talk directly to the population where PeTAs message would work best. I also agree that they probably calculated that they wouldn't have to pay for the spot; either way I think they would have made their goal, whatever it is. I think it's just a little bit on the risque side for a family event like the Superbowl. |
