Do you mean Birkenstock??
If so they are very comfy but, honestly not as comfy as much cheaper Crocs! IMHO |
oops spelling lol
looking for spring shes that help me. support in in need ,I have a very high arch |
I don't think they have alot of suport myself...
I think you could find a much better shoe for what you pay for them! (I have only trid the sandals though!) They have many styles! |
A friend of mine tried the thongs and they didnt offer enough support.
Dont know about there but here in Aus they're really expensive compared to other shoes. I was amazed that my friend would pay so much for a pair of leather thongs. She said there expensive because they're "in". Guess that means I'm "out" |
I thought they were over priced myself. Buy if they had been better than maybe. Still looking.!!!!! |

I'm not sure if there's another shoe that exists that makes your foot look more dumpy- other than aforementioned Croc, lol. Born makes some reason nice sandals that allow you to still look like a woman and Clark's also makes some pretty cute ones that still offer comfort and support. Both of those brands have a lot of sub-lines, too. Check them out on Zappo's. |
I absolutely love my Eastland sandals.....very comfy for my somewhat narrow high arched foot, and they have many styles, slip ons, sandals, lace ups, etc. Catch them on sale and they are well worth the investment. Come to think of it, my husbands favorite shoes are his Eastland's as well. |

Oh wait... woops, just after I posted I mentioned to Wayne that I'd stuffed up and forgotten to call them flip flops to you uneducated Americans. The item of clothing to which you refer Ron, is known as a G string down here. I have no idea why, but being typical Aussies we shorten it to just a "G". I KNEW someone would pick me up on it, why did I suspect it would be you Ron. |
When I was a kid, we called flip-flops thongs, too. Times have chnaged! |
Wont wear them. Not a big fan of any sandal. I have several friends who do and love them swear by them. I would say something else but may offend. |

Oh so now your saying we're slow and behind the times in Australia are you? |
I think Born makes some of the most comfortable shoes out there. And I'm a looks girl--I'd rather be in pain than have ugly shoes, but Born does a nice job compromising.
Birkenstocks are pricey, and they are great for hippies |
Ok...I'm an old hippie! Yes, I've tried them, and thought they were comfortable (after a break in period), but looked horrible. My fashion sense won out, and they got tossed! |
Wore them for years! Then suddenly plagued by plantar fasciitis if I wore them over and over and over. That shouldn't happen!
All my life I've had hard to fit feet, sensitive feet, etc. Thought Birks were a God send........and they were for 20 years. Wore them winter (closed toe), summer sandals, never flip flops (I'd be flipping those off my feet or falling to side in no time) Butt ugly,( maybe not the flipflops.) For me I didn't care. Price seems excessive now that there are knockoffs around. Hubby wears a knockoff put out by WalMart and is OK with them.....lucky guy. The knockoffs are instantly painful to me. I no longer wear the winter shoes, but still wear, on occassion, the Arizona sandals. |

(In my best Inpector Cluseau imitation) You guys are like hours ahead of everyone else! |
They caused me foot problems and now I only wear Dansko...I have a high arch and the doctor told me I should never wear a shoe without a good size heel on it and lots of arch support...love the Dansko sandals and have winter shoes, the "aubrey" in several colors. They are also pricey but I buy them on sale. |

Unlike most females,I hate shoes and only ever have maybe 2 pairs in service at once.Sandals with straps cut my feet, all shoes rub,Even Crocs cut me near the inner top.
I wear Colorado Clogs only ,they are not petite and lady like so not a fashion statement but I can wear them and stand up all day and no scratches or abrasions on my feet.I buy a black pair and a brown pair each year,as I am scared one day they will discontinue them.My SO says they should be banned on any women under 40,lol,I told him some of us would be crippled if we had to wait that long for wearable comfy shoes. They last for years and years (if you put them out of dogs and cats reach) . I bought myself a heap of Doc Martens a few years ago, they are the worst for rubbing on me,I sold them cheap though a little bloodstained inside ,on ebay. Have a look on ebay for Barefoot Sandals ,lol, now they are comfy!! (Oh dont you hate the whole "thong" thing,I mentioned I bought a pair of Australia Day thongs to my Scottish friend and he emailed back.."Why two?Over here we only wear thongs one at a time..I guess it gives the husband a double challenge if you wear two".) |
I don't know where you're located, but is the Naot line available there? I like them and they're not hideously ugly. They also have insoles designed to come out so that if you wear orthotics you can fit those in easily.
I find that just on their own they are very comfy and supportive to my feet. And, I am also someone who has had trouble my entire life with shoes. I can't have straps, seams, etc ANYWHERE that rubs on my skin. Ten minutes of wearing them and I'm bleeding. I've purchased several of the Naot open toed shoes (three or four colours) and they are heaven on my wimpy feet. But I must admit I really dream of cute strappy sandals. I'm just not willing to bleed for them. |

Hee, hee. I could get right off topic telling thong stories but to quote Shon I "may offend." |

Weighing in on this discussion a little late, but have to save I love, love, LOVE my Birks. I, too, have plantar fasciitis and other foot problems and am very hard to fit. My podiatrist recommended them (if I must wear sandals, which I must)! Hated them at first, but once they molded to my feet (which is their "claim to fame"), I absolutely cannot be without them in the summer. I used to go barefoot at every opportunity, but no more once I got the Birks.
I ran into a guy who had the EXACT SAME SHOES on, and we laughed about it -- he called them his lesbian earth shoes - and he said to get them broken in quickly, to wear them in water (I have the microsuede type, not leather). I paid $85 for my first pair and they have lasted me for three years, wearing them almost daily. My husband does say they are ugly, but I don't care as long as my feet don't hurt. Sometimes you can get a good buy on them on Zappos or Endless, but I think they are worth whatever I have to pay for them. |
OES Mommy wrote: Does anyone have them???????? I was readin that they are so good. Please help! OMG I am a birkenstock QUEEN. Been wearing them since 1988. Have about 15 pairs, maybe more. PM me if you need more info. They are expensive, but I go through shoes quickly and still have the first pair. I paid $35.00 and had them resoled. Hard to break in depending on the shoe, but so worth it for me. I have knee and feet problems and they really help. |
