My First attempt at making Lasagna (w/pics!)

I decided to surprise my parents (since they're off work) and bring over a lasagna to their house for lunch.

I've never made one before, but I figured it would be fun.

Anyways, it turned out a hit! If I did it over again, I would add more meat and more chunky garden veggie spaghetti sauce!!! Also added garlic and pepper.

1 ricotta-cheese 15 oz
1 C. red onions
2.5 C cheese (divide)
1/2 C Parmesan (divide)
fourth C. of fresh parsley
an egg (lightly beaten)
jar of spaghetti sauce (i got the garden kind w/chunky veggies and mushrooms)
lb. browned ground beef (drained)
1C. of water
12 uncooked lasagna noodles

preheat 350

mix r.cheese, 1 1/4 C of moz cheese, 1/4 C of Parm. Cheese, parsley, onion, and egg until blended

put spaghetti sauce into meat in whatever you cooked it in. pour water in (use water you put in spaghetti jar so you get all the flavor possible). stir until mixed. should be 5 C of spaghetti sauce (not including the meat).

place 1 C of the mixed sauce on bottom of 13X9 baking dish (so noodles don't stick).

layer 3 lasagna noodles (i used four), then 1/3 of ric. cheese mixture, and 1 C of the mixed sauce. Repeat layers two more times. Top w/3 lasagna noodles and sauce.

sprinkle remaining 1 1/4 C of mozz. cheese and 1/4 C. Parm. cheese. Cover tightly with greased foil.

Bake 45 min.

Remove foil and bake an additional 15 min. or until bubbling.

Enjoy!!!

it was just the folks who ate it since I don't eat red meat. teeheheh I just like experimenting with meals so I can make them for my fiance and fam.

I can't do something complicated on my first try!!! I'm a goon like that.

Here's me browning the lean ground beef.

I did decide to use original ricotta cheese since I heard "skim" ricotta cheese does not taste so hot.

The onion, parsley, PART of the cheese, PART of the Parm. cheese, and one egg mixed together

Here I am adding the chunky sauce into the ground beef

What it looked like when it all came together PRIOR to putting it in the oven.

here is the final product.

I will post my appetizer next!!! That was REALLY the big hit. They ate them all before I could get them to sit down at the table.

It's raining outside!

BTW, if anyone is interested ...the recipe says to not precook the lasagna noodles/layers. Totally saves 15 minutes!!!

It looks like you did a good job.

I'll have to try the crescent roll recipe, sounds very different, but good.

Nobody noticed that I wrote it was 8 years? LOL
Wow! Mrs J - this one really threw me for a loop! It took me a minute
to figure out that it was a really old post.
I have to say I have been thoroughly enjoying your life for over 8 years.
I can't even believe all the changes in just those 8 years. Amazing! I
hope you know how glad I am that you are one of the "ones who stayed"!
There aren't that many of us left....
I live vicariously.

Shellie
It has been a long time for some of us hasn't it? I've especially enjoyed living vicariously through J family expansions LOL Since no more babies for me I got to enjoy the wait, the stories and pics, and no midnight feedings or poopy diapers! :)
Sure have enjoyed some of your recipes in my own home over the years and they have been delicious. Thank you :!:
aweee... you guys know how to warm the heart :hearts:

That's what I don't get... how some people could leave this place. No matter my mood, this board brings me back down to a good place.
