Someone out there in internet land visited my website, stole my logo image and plastered it on their myspace page. She used that picture as a background and WAS SELLING OES PUPPIES THROUGH MYSPACE!!! Well you can only imagine how absolutely IRATE I was when I actually saw it with my sheepiedreams logo behind a photo of her holding up a tiny, OES puppy. I emailed these people countless times, and it took me a week to finally get a hold of someone at myspace that could help me. Dunno what happened to that account name, those people, or the puppies but boy my italian blood was brewing!! I want to say, clear as day, I do not like these people selling run of the mill OES puppies in their backyard nor would I ever EVER allow my name to be associated with that under any circumstances. It is because of customers and people out there that actually have looked out for me brought to my attention (which I can not thank you enough) several other instances similar to this one. I'd like to warn other people out there that are artists, photographers, graphic designers, etc to please be careful with your pictures whenever, wherever!!! I have since had to tag each and every photo (including my logo) to prevent this from happening again. It is very violating to have that happen, and I really wanted to speak my peace about the matter. Thanks ~ |

Oh how horrible!!! I'm glad you got it sorted out and it would make my French blood boil too.
Marianne |
MY Italian blood is boiling as well....Good for you for fighting this to the end~~~~~~~ |
That is awful! I would be mad too
Your artwork is beautiful though |
It has happened sooooooooo many times that I've nearly given up trying to watch every corner of the 'net to prevent theft. I'm not even preventing hotlinking by most now. |
The exact same thing has happened to me and I had to email countless servers to get the website OFFLINE ...and I totally understand the stress involved. I was red for weeks. Glad you got myspace involved and that you ran into someone doing that!!!! You should have got their info, and posted it on here while you had a chance. That way when someone looks up their name, they see what a terrible breeder they are. I know I can't be the only one who googles their breeders name. |
I would be so annoyed. We forget as well how many people can access forums. I was at my sisters house yesterday and I was looking at the photos on here of families as a guest and thinking oh you do have to be so careful... |
I dont blame you one bit for being upset. I know all to well about italian blood boiling. |
Unfortunately it does happen all the time.... I try to keep a close eye on my stuff too, but there's just too much, we'll never catch them all. |
Michelina and Val - I can TOTALLY relate to Italian blood boiling, as I belong to that elite group as well. Sometimes I can get so angry that I feel like a cartoon character where the blood keeps rising until it pops out the top of the head!
So sorry you had to go through this, Michelina. But so glad you were able to resolve it! |
Michelina I am sorry.
I think the internet is wonderful but this is another example of its evil side. I don't have any Italian in me BUT I know about blood boiling. |
My Jewish Russian German blood is boiling for you. I would be so pissed if someone did that with my stuff. I haven't figured out how to put "do not copy" on my images yet...but it really sucks that you would have to put that on the logo for your website.
It just goes to prove that puppymillers have no scruples whatsoever. |
The only way to protect internet images, is to make them next to not worth using. |
Yeah, it stinks..... There is just something about it that is very violating and wrong...The other incident was a breeder I had never heard of and know isn't on the OESCA breeder referral list. Emails me telling me she likes my work, then tells me to go on her website to see her links! So I did and I was like this !!!
It had rescue links on her website with a big fat art image of one of my rescue portraits (Kramer) which was stolen from a different website. I was thinking isn't that an oxy moron. Breeding dogs (in your backyard) and talking about the importance of rescue with one of my pictures plastered dead center of the page??? I want to say that this breeder had cartoonie images or tree's and pine cones on her home page and something with the word pines? You guys are right.....it does happen......If something like that DOES happen again with a BYB, I will be sure to tell the forum! And Wendy, I can help you with the tagging for your Artwork. Please email me privately - Michelina~ |
Does your web site have a "Safe Mode"? That way people can't take or copy anything from your site without the OK from the owner, it does not allow them to do it.
Glad you found out just horrible using your copyrighted art for their benefit. |
it used to..... |
Just curious here... but when in safe mode does that stop people from using the print screen or just stop them from saving? |

I like how if you drag the image to the address bar of the browser it takes you back to the home page rather than giving you access to the image. I've got java script on certain pages where other businesses have been copying my copyrighted images for commercial use. These silent and alerted disabling of right clicks helps to deter copying but unfortunately there are still work arounds if someone is determined to steal pictures. I copyright everything now. I like having a registration number I can send to the search engines if I have to go for a DMCA take-down. I've done it a few times over the years and may be forced to do it again soon. Google, Yahoo and eBay quickly pulled the pages that violated my rights in the past. Just something to consider if you have problems. http://www.google.com/dmca.html |
