I have one of those rear bumper carriers on my Element - and it works great! I think it does better fuel economy-wise than a top carrier too. OK, it is better height-wise for shorter people (like me) as well!

We are coming too - myself, Chewie and Simon.
LeAnne, Keith and Martha (and maybe kids, don't know for sure) are also coming. We are all ready to try the fabulous Italian food we had Saturday night again!

Ok-- question here. Max rode so well when we went to Florida, that we are actually thinking about coming this year. I do worry about Max' though. Since he is a bit slow getting up and down and such, will that hinder others-- or be a problem with the activities???

Haven't been on in a long time....long story involving total knee replacement...that started after 2008 Sheepiepalooza.

We've decided this is Ralph's "annual conference". This comes from 2 people who used to work for associations and planned conferences. Duh!

Ok-- question here. Max rode so well when we went to Florida, that we are actually thinking about coming this year. I do worry about Max' though. Since he is a bit slow getting up and down and such, will that hinder others-- or be a problem with the activities???

I don't see how it would. The activities are all set up so that you can do them as large groups, smaller ones or individuals. Last year Tonks and Luna were the youngest at only 7 months old. They ended up on the bottom of every dog pile, and in a short time they were pretty freaked out. So we set up some "boundaries" and they did fine. We did less with the large groups to keep them from getting piled on quite as much. And we all still had so much fun!

I'm probably not explaining it well; here's an example. We had an afternoon of shopping in a dog friendly neighborhood. Dog friendly restaurants and shops were marked on a map. Once you drove there and parked; it was easy to meet up with people and eat together or shop together. We stuck with Stacey, Steve and Fozzie for lunch and shopping, but when we stopped for Cupcakes (ooh I can already taste them!) we met up with some other folks and their dogs there. Some people had larger groups for lunch; some had small. And you take your own vehicle, so you can spend as little or as much time as you want wandering around.

... I though I can go and drive myself with my dog and if I am pooped I will sit! I figured people will understand, just can't miss this, sounds like so much fun!

This will be our 1st time at sheepipalloza.

I have read this website for years and am finally posting something. We are planning our 1st vacation with the dogs to sheepiepalooza 2009.
Last year we had other arrangements and couldnt come. This year everything revolves around our plans for sheepipalooza. Dang thats hard to type!

We were going to camp last year and stay in one of the camping cabins but dogs need to be crated anytime in the cabins so that was out.

Also thought about tenting but the weather can be unpredictable.

I just checked the pUrina farms calendar and not only is SHeepiepalooza on it , but there is a NADAC agility trial the same weekend for anyone who is interested - even if its just to schedule a look see.

I didn't mean to cofuse anyone - of course we are all on the calendar - Purina is HUGE!!!! I wanted people who may be interested in competing in NADAC to know there was an opportunity to check out a trial- even if they didn't plan on entering.

I'm trying to talk hubby into driving there for a long weekend so we can meet all of you and watch all the sheepies play. I just mentioned it to him tonight...and he said he'd think about it...but hopefully we can make it there. He is sick with a cold....so he's not up to talking about it right now ....but there's always tomorrow.

Tonks and Luna are ready! They both rolled in cat urine this morning, so they'd smell extra awesome for their sheepie friends.

Tonks and Luna's mom is less than impressed, and will be washing said dogs AGAIN this evening.

a 10 hour drive with pups that smell like cat pee is not my idea of a good time.
Though if Tonks has a replay of last year, she'll roll in poop at the Friday night bar-b-q.

I was hoping we'd get luckier with the weather this year (60s or 70s), but mid 80s, yuck.

Well, you can't control the weather. But the first "heatwave" of the year is always brutal on the dogs. We had close to 90 degrees yesterday but a stiff breeze and no humidity and it was just fine. I've heard about this dry heat thingie but...it was quite livable, really. I was shocked.

It's the humidity that wipes you out and with dogs in coat you do have to be careful running them. I used to run Mad mid-sommer in high 90s weather with brutal humidity, but I took precautions and conditioned her for it.

So who's bringing the baby pool for the dogs to splash in?
