As far as I can see is I get a clean oven and free heat. Good day to slow cook on the stove. ANYTHING to get warm. I have on 3 layers of clothes Went to the store last night and when I got home it took me 30 min. to get breathing right. We have 20 mph winds with the cold too. I want to go someplace warm. Saw Darcy was saying come visit! I JUST MIGHT LOL |

I still need to use easy-off.......but just on the bottom plate. Need to do that! |
How does self clean work? My new oven says I can't use easy-off which btw has always been my favorite ...and so I've just been giving it a wipe down w/a wet rag which has worked so far, but I know eventually it'll need a deep clean if I spill something. |
basically, the self clean oven heats to super duper hot....and disintergrates the particles of food.....
just remember, if you have thermalfoil cabinet doors and drawers, to open the ones on either side of the stove, so that it doesnt peel the laminate...... |
ah... We've always been scared to use it b/c we weren't sure what it did. Works good? |
Yes It does I have a perfect clean oven.!!!!
Mine says DO NOT USE OVEN CLEANER It can damage your oven when you use the cleaning on it. Something about the chemacials and the high heat. Ok Mrs J. Any more questions feel free to ask And yes Darcy is right!!!! If you have Lam. for cabinets I have seen peeling, brown marks like they get burned. |
The last time I cleaned my oven it caught on fire
That does sound like a nice warming idea though! |
I don't think there is ever a good day to clean the oven |
I have a selfcleaning oven, too. But I'm at work, so it wouldn't help me. However, I did put a roast in the crock pot, so when I get home, there will be a nice hot, good smelling, cozy dinner waiting! |
Thanks, and thankfully no to laminate cabinets! |
Due to size restraints, they didn't have self cleaning in my size wall oven, back xx years ago. So have continuous clean......which means it sorta burns itsself clean every time it is turned on, except the bottom is plate between oven and broiler has to come out and be cleaned and of course the racks.........boo hiss. The instructions clearly state no wiping down as the cloth or sponge bits get caught in the very rough sides. I'd love to put aluminum on the bottom plate to catch grease, but that too is mentioned as a nono. Bummer. I'll have to win the lottery and have a kitchen redo by Darcy.....I'm sure she can design into innerspace and find some floor space not readily visible to give me those need couple of inches for a self cleaning wall oven......sign. |
