Right now, at 8:50pm it is -16F, with the windchill it is -39. (in C: -27,-39) The low tonight is supposed to be -24F, the HIGH tomorrow -7, then back down to -21 tomorrow night. Plus, all the powder snow we got the last few days is blowing and drifting. They never even plowed our roads today. They are talking above zero by Saturday!!! |
|
Betcha can't wait to come to St. LOU and feel the 15-30 degree 'heat'wave!!!!!!!
They are closing schools for tomorrow....5 to 0 in morning...windchill is 0 to -10.......BRRRRRRRRRRRRR (I don't know how you guys deal with YOUR weather...this is too much for me!!!!!) |
Sounds like t-shirts and shorts weather!!!
Also - if anyone watches the weather channel - they were featuring Mankato, MN today. I caught part of it - they were throwing water from a cup and it was freezing before it hit the ground. That's us! |
Awww it certainly is cold cold cold, you need a holiday here, we had 37c two days ago and yesterday reached 39c before a change mid morning, pleasant 23c today YAY.
I can't imagine such a cold enviroment. |
I know I said it before...Thanks Dawn. What you have we get the next day or two. |
For the first time in I don't know how many years I actually feel a cold coming on. Or the flu. I'm warm enough at the moment given that I have no intention of wandering outside till morning, but this is becoming very tedious. Agility classes are cancelled tomorrow because of windchill warnings in the -25 to -40 range coupled with blowing & drifting snow and though not as bad as MN, actual temps are supposed to remain in the negative range for a high tomorrow as well.
Cranky is an understatement. As soon as I'm done wishing plagues of locusts upon Lisa ( )I'm going to take a hot shower and crawl into bed. Last night was a five dog night (literally) That may have been a record. Hopefully the needle-nosed foster will keep her snout to herself at 3 am for a change or I'll wish plagues of locust and Daphnes on Lisa Kristine |

I know!!! I don't know if I heard the news correctly - but I thought they said 50 below tonight with windchill. Dawn/Kristine - how do you exercise your sheepies when it gets this cold? |

Dawn/Kristine - how do you exercise your sheepies when it gets this cold? LOL - you just HAD to ask!!! I took this shot of Chewie last night.....brrr! Actually, we go to class, let him run around at the Paw, and also play out in the yard with maggie and the other dogs. The others freeze before Chewie, so it doesn't last long. We have a weight pull this weekend, and we hardly have worked. I don't have high expectations d/t the lack of practice. |
sneakysheepie wrote: Dawn/Kristine - how do you exercise your sheepies when it gets this cold?
Can't speak for Dawn but I let them out the back door (fenced in area) and, apart from Belle who has that rare quality known as common sense, they just run around and beat up on each other. The colder it gets, the happier they are. Every five minutes or so I open the door and demand they come in. This goes on for anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes Unless I can grab someone as they go running by. Though it wasn't that cold on the day depicted below, and I had two fosters at the time, they still got a workout in: (Quick, Lisa! Post some nice subtropical pictures of pretty flowers to counteract that! Or whatever the locust left behind... ) I also, USUALLY, have classes they go to plus a rather -ahem - bare living room that actually serves as a training room so we can exercise the brain a little too. The cold must take it out of them because they are sacked out most of the time these past nights and not climbing the wall, which you might expect. KB |
Simon's Mom wrote: I know I said it before...Thanks Dawn. What you have we get the next day or two.
Sorry, Pam. Yes, you do get it right after us most of the time. |
Same here in NYS we are freezing. Low 0 high 5 tomarrow. We have not seen this cold here in 4 yrs. I HATE IT. I have 3 layers on. |
Same story here in Ohio. Low tonight is 0 with a windchill of -12. Thursday is a high of 5 with a windchill of -12 during the day, -2 at night with a windchill of -20. Fri. is again a high of 5 with a windchill of -24 & Friday night (when I have to drive to MI for dog shows!!!) is a -6 with a windchiill of -20! And I'm not driving into any better temps this weekend!
They canceled our obedience class for this evening around 3PM today as the major highways between here & there were down to 1 lane each side! And the side roads hadn't been touched. If there wasn't a shot at a major this weekend, I'd be tempted to eat my entries! |
Good grief! And I think I am cold with 39 degree weather tonight. Wow - uh - I don't think I want to live further north than I am right now in Louisiana (where the roses and hibiscus are blooming right now, the grass is green, and there is no need for thermal underwear and Uggs boots).
Stay warm folks and stay safe. Hey Dawn they were showing pictures of buildings where the roofs had collapsed due to the weight of the snow on tv. Are you all ok? |

Oh and a pretty bird just to add colour for all that white stuff you have to look at. And the sunset to warm ya up. Gee been on the news here tonight all that snow happening over there |
Lisa.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh that's for that. My cold body needed a little dose of flowers and sunshine.

Stay warm folks and stay safe. Hey Dawn they were showing pictures of buildings where the roofs had collapsed due to the weight of the snow on tv. Are you all ok? No roofs collapsing from snow around here - thank goodness. The snow we have gotten in the last few storms has been the dry glittery stuff (too cold for wet snow). Thanks for the concern though. We are just cold. The temp right now is -21F, the windchill is -40. That is what the computer weather says. I looked out at my thermometer - it says -24, so the windchill is even colder. That really makes me want to get out there and go to work! My remote start for the Element I got as my Christmas present last year is really getting a good workout! |

ChSheepdogs wrote: Jeez & I was complaining about -2 degrees & a windchill of -20 degrees
For us right now it's -12 F actual and -27 winchill. Cold is cold once you get below zero. I'm tempted to just stay home and stare at Lisa's pretty pictures on the screen... Kristine |
Please come visit Rochester.....we are at -24F now and a windchill of -50.
Well I am moving south. Poor Bert, this might be his last beautiful winter. I say let's move to Arizona and never have a winter again. And Bert gets a hair cut and pet friendly pool chemicals. I let him out this morning and he just stood at the door. "I am not going unless you accompany me!" and he didn't. Finally went when I was out to start the car. |
WOW I have been watching your states on the news. brrr It has been rather nice here but it was 23 yesterday will be 17 today and 7 tonight As everyone with farm animals I was used to braving the cold to do barn work and complained all the way to the barn. Now that our horses have crossed the bridge I miss it. I bundled up to throw the air congs for my guys and they were frozen I said forget it just run around and try and kill each other. My mad molly keeps things going she herds the boeing747's as they pass through the air , the geese and the moon. At least we don't have snow I don't know how you guys stand it. Sending warm thoughts your way |
I HATE THIS WEATHER!!! The kids school had a 2 hr delay this morning because of the cold... not because of any snow. It is -10 right now with wind chill of -20 (i think they said. I was looking at the sunset picture... and got lost in thought so I didn't hear it all...)
Today's high is supposed to be -3. I don't even want to take Baloo for a walk today. We are going to have to find something else to do. He's not keen on going in the yard for longer than a minute or two when it is this cold. He's okay if it's around, say, 20's or 30's. But this is just TOO cold for both of us!! |
UGH! I HATE this cold weather!!!! Lizzie won't do her business unless she's being walk and attended to! Where have all the delightful 30 degree days gone?! Kristine, I hope you feel better. Let me know if you need some chicken soup. Oh, I read, if your fub Vicks Vaporub on your feet, and cover them with socks before you go to bed, you will sleep better. Worth a try. Everyone....please stay warm and safe. Lisa...thanks for the warm pictures! |

Here is Sebatian Inlet in Sebatian Florida where they are having the Surf contest this week.
Enjoy.... |
Why does the surf comp picture say 2/24/2009? |
shon wrote: Why does the surf comp picture say 2/24/2009?
Probably because the time/date stamp on her digital camera is set as accurately as mine |
Shon, please look at the beach and relax not at the date stamp. hahaha. This camera's constatly running down the battery and so the battery has to be out of the camera for so long before I can reset the date. Most of the time I don't even think about the time/date just the subject I'm trying to capture. I finally fixed the date/time stamp on the camera the other day, when once again I missed a great shot of the blue herrings here, because the batteries where dead.
Relax and enjoy the beach. |
Yo northerners, stop sending your arctic blast down here to little 'ole NJ. I guess I shouldn't complain that it's going down to 9 Farenheit here tonight.
I wish we had some snow to go along with all of this cold. We haven't even gotten an inch yet.. |
We are really cold here too - I stopped checking the temp. I walked Jasper and Miley last night and actually did not freeze. I worked up a sweat because I had so many layers on. I looked like a marshmellow.
I was trying not to walk to sheepies tonight because it is even colder. But the sheepies are restless - I think its time for indoor games. Maybe work on a new trick to keep them thinking so they don't get bored. Jasper and Miley play outside but keep coming in but then want to go back out - it must be the same as a warmering shelter at the ice rink. Sending you all warm wishes. |
Last night believe it or not, was 38..... I was shivering so I don't know how you are all surviving in those temperatures.
I wonder what would happen if your nose starts running while you are standing outside. Would it freeze to your face??? lol |

I wish we had some snow to go along with all of this cold. We haven't even gotten an inch yet.. Well, you can have ALL my snow AND my cold temps! Our predicted low tonight is -1 degree with a wind chill of -20 degrees. Notice I say predicted! At 9PM when I took Olivia back home after her bath & grooming it was already -6 degrees! I won't even take a guess at the wind chill. My gas bill came in the mail Wed. & I have yet to open it! I think I'll wait until after the weekend! |

EVEN US IN FLA THE TEMP ARE IN THE 40'S THIS MORNING BURR |
-4 with a wind chill warning. "Feels like" -30 here.
We need a little smiley icon with ear muffs! |
Hubby even changed outdoor thermometers this morning as he couldn't believe it was REALLY -18 degrees. Went to take a shower & 20 minutes later the 2nd thermometer read -18 degrees! So I guess it really is! I won't take a gander at the windchill. During the day today the windchill is supposed to be -25 degrees at a minimum. Even my dogs don't want to go out for very long & usually the colder the better for them. The air is like breathing pure oxygen. |
Abuckie wrote: -4 with a wind chill warning. "Feels like" -30 here.
We need a little smiley icon with ear muffs! How about one pulling on their long thermal underwear! |
We are -17 this am. That is NOT including the wind chill. That is our true temp. damn........... |
Yikes. I seriously cannot imagine how you stand it. I have never been in temps that cold in my life. Burrr!!
I will not complain that is is 12 degrees here this morning. Somehow, the wigglebums do not mind. It's the dickens to get them to come inside & warm up. |
My dogs hate it. It hurts their paws. I can't take Lizzie for her walk, because by time we get to the end of the driveway, her little feetsies are hurting. In the backyard, they do their business, and start lifting their legs, because their paws are so cold, and want to come in immediately. I tried to imagine walking barefoot in this, and it blows my mind. Poor pups. |

I tried to imagine walking barefoot in this, and it blows my mind. Poor pups. Same with Max. I opened the door this morning, he turned around and looked at me like " Are you serious lady"? I made him wear little socks, which he HATES! He did some speed peeing and back in he came! Typically he loves the cold-- but this is beyond cold! |

Helen, what type of camera? I'm researching a new one and sure don't need one that needs recharging often. As to you cold folks........50's here today and for the next 10 days. Not tropical but not bad either. |
BRRRRRRRRRRR
I guess 26 is not too bad BUT, this is the south so... it is COLD This is a heck of time to not know where my ear muffs are! |
all you freezing cold people can come visit me..todays hi is supposed to be 74....not super warm, but a heck of a lot better than places where your snot freezes to your face |
78 here today and 70's for the next week. It was 84 yesterday with a nice cool breeze.
It has been in the 40's at night, which is stay way too cold for me. That is why I moved from NY to California. I had had enough of that thing called "WINTER". |
Woohoo!!! It's finally moving away from us! Look out, those to the east.
It got to 6 degrees today for a high. That is the 1st time we have been above 0 degrees since Monday - and it's Friday now! And guess what - they are predicting 26 tomorrow. Of course, they had to ruin it by saying we also will be having 20-30 mph winds. |
Yippee....we had a five degree high today. I can barely contain myself......Normally I don't mind winter, but this year is horrible, just horrible. If it's not a blizzard, it is 20 degrees below zero.
Is it April yet? Laurie and Oscar |
We hit 40c today, fire trucks rushing up the main road, smell of smoke and can see smoke not far from our place. Within a short time a change came and wind blowing the other way with a sudden drop to 30c.
Yesterday was peaking at 37c and tomorrow a reasonable 32c, sheesh summer definately comes later, late jan, feb and march seems to be our hottest now. I want to trade for some snow fun. Sick of being couped up in the house due to high temps. Today outside even the air was hot to breath in ones nosie. Babs & syd and momma had to have sockies on to get across the bricks to what's left of any grass to pee. The babies had this look of HECK what has she put on my feet, but I think they appreciated it as the ground was burnies. Dawn on my way to your place for fun in that wet, cold icky white stuff. I'll even bring some Tim Tams |
Our high today/tomorrow will only be 51F/10.5C brrr for Florida! I feel sorry for anyone coming here on vacation looking for warmth...... |
I'm freezing too, and the sun is out and it's a high of 20. Well, that's 36 degrees warmer than last week. I cannot get warm this winter--this is the first year I've been soooo cold. I'm totally ready for this to be over. Bring on spring!
The horses were in for 4 days last week due to the cold. We put them out on Saturday and the one that ranandbuckedandprancedandsnorted the most was of course, my soon-to-be 24 year old. The 31 year old kept up with him. Pretty good for old men! I wish us humans had as much energy. |
