box of cake you like 1/2 container of prepared frosting you like whatever chocolate flavored coating you like (bar, already prepared dipping chocolate, chocolate chips, etc) (you can do carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting/ spice cake with frosting / chocolate with vanilla, red velvet and frosting/ etc) prepare cake in whatever sized pan. wait until the cake is cool then with my kitchenmaid, i lightly mixed in half a can of frosting. form into balls using cookie scoop. i used my smallest one. freeze until completely frozen so a few hours. while melting your chocolate, take out a small portion of the balls from the freezer. same as the other recipe i posted.. these should not thaw while your dipping them and cake thaws out fast. dip chocolate, remove, and let harden. tip: you can use a toothpick to dip or help move them around. i put them in, froze, then it took lots of force but removed it ...then stuck it back in so it's easy, dip, then used another toothpick to remove it onto cookie sheet. I kept them in the fridge, but when they hit room temp... they did fine all day and I stored them on top of one another. |

Love your recipes and picture staging. You're getting good, lady. Have to laugh at vases and glass balls. Several years ago I had to decorate holiday luncheon tables and did the same but with only silver or gold balls, silver or gold ting-ting coming out the tops. Each table was over the top, max number.......all the while I was humming "bring Him silver and gold..." I'm still not quite able to look at silver and gold ornaments without going, "hmmm, that would have been nice too...."
Anyway, your instructions: Quote: prepare cake in whatever. wait until the cake is cool then with my kitchenmaid, i lightly mixed in half a can of frosting.
form into balls using cookie scoop. i used my smallest one. freeze until completely frozen so a few hours. I think "in" confuses me.........into what? Are you just whipping the frosting to make it softer so you can scoop out balls and roll them in the frosting? Sounds like a jolly mess, but a good time. They come out beautifully! |
sounds good but need to clarify:
you take the cooked cake and mix it with a mixer with frosting? |
Thanks, and SORRY for the confusion!
you take the cooked cake, crumble into pieces (but not warm or you'll have goo everywhere), and mix (by hand or lightly with mixer) frosting into it. By mixer, it all comes together better. |
Sounds like way too much work... but sounds yummy |
