I had an early morning training at an elementrary school. Headed out and it was rainy, but nothing major. When I was almost to my destination, ice began to form on my windshield. There was a curve, I started to slow down, and boom-- I was all over the road. Both sides of the road, back and forth, and finally hit the ditch. Right behind me came another car out of control and then another. All of us had damage to our cars. My CRV lost it's front left tire off the rim, and has scratches and a big dent where I brushed a fence as I skidded around. All in all very lucky though. There have been three deaths in central Ohio related to road conditions today. One was a mother and small child. |

OMG, what a welcome home, eh? I hope you are ok and everyone else involved in the accident is alright. 82F and sunny here in Florida today. |
OMG!! That's terrible. But its so lucky that you are OK. And the car can be fixed.
I dont know how you guys get around in winter. I would be too nervous to drive anywhere in your weather. You must be just tougher and braver. Take care. |
I am so sorry you messed up your car, but at least as you said no one was hurt. That poor family. And just after the holidays.
Your car can be fixed. Darn ICE |
Ice like that is just awful. No warning, no control! I'm glad you weren't hurt and the CRV will live another day. |
sorry your car is hurt ...GLAD you are NOT!!!! |
I'm glad you're safe. You must have been very frightened!
Take a(nother) deep breath and thank the Powers that Be. |
We had the same stuff up here in northern Ohio. The weather was between rain & sleet....on again off again. I set out for handling class with Olivia at 5:30PM. Usually takes 45 minutes to get there. Class started at 6:30PM & runs until 8:00PM & since it is basically a "run-thru" type class you can start & stop anytime within that 90 minutes. Well we got not even 1/2 way there when the roads turned to a sheet of ice & we were stopped for a 4 car accident! We sat on the freeway for exactly 59 minutes without moving!!!! Once we were able to move I found an exit & headed back home. First, I had no idea how bad the roads were further on & 2nd it was already 35 minutes into class time & we had at least another 20-30 minutes to drive to get there! Poor Olivia.....still can't figure out why she got in the van & out of the van (total of 2-1/2 hours) in her own driveway & saw nothing in between! |
ugg we are getting it tomorrow. I may end up at home with the dogs for the day. |
It was here on Saturday. We are still sliding around, and my Element looks like it is made of salt from all the road spray.
There are still cars in the ditch everytime I drive into town or home - yep, still one this afternoon getting pulled out by the tow truck as I drove by. The sun comes out and melts it a little (still below freezing) during the day,and then refreezes into a slick mess late in the afternoon. Hope you are OK - bound to be stiff from all the jarring and tense muscles. |
I hate that feeling, helplessly spinning. Glad you were not hurt. |
WOW.... Glad to know the damage was just to the cars. This storm is just getting here. The schools have a 2 hr delay and even hubby's work called and they don't have to be in till 10 am...
Glad you are okay! |
Wow! You must have been terrified! I'm glad you're ok. A car, is just a thing...it can be fixed or replaced. You're special and can never be replaced! |
oh, scary! I'm glad you weren't hurt. |
