gutted...... the vets scalped billy

billy had to go to the vets last week to have some fat lumps removed as they were getting bigger. little did i know he was going to shave a huge chunk of his back. i had spoken to the vet and said i would clip off the areas with the lumps so he could find them, he suggested putting tipex on the areas firstly. so i clipped off a good size area around each of the 4 lumps, 3 on his chest and one on his back, allowing the hair to cover them after. when i got him back he has now got a 4" square hole on his back, i know he needed the lumps off and due to insurance reasons it had to be done now (his last insurance went up more then double so due to the lumps being on his previous records no other insurance company would cover it otherwise i would of waited till summer)
billies coat is about 6" long now its his first time going for the full coat. the lumps on his chest you cant see too much, its just the hole in his back, i just wish i had of realised and platted it or something around the area. the vet explained that he had to do it like that so the fur didnt catch on the stitches which is fair enough, just annoyed at the big bald patch. his ok and slowly realising that his not allowed to itch them or nibble them the thought of his scratching them stitches with his massive undainty paws is not a nice thought and its a good job his hair grows quick.
he has the stitches out next friday, he went for his check up last week and wouldnt go into the treatment room so were dreading him having the stitches out, his such a wimp even when he had his injections he was jumping around crying, 3 attempts for 1 injection the big baby!

awe.. poor baby. I hope he continues to improve and do well. I can understand about being frustrated on the unexpected haircut... hopefully it will grow back quickly. :)
Hang in there. You are a trooper!and the hair wiil come back. Hope the lumps have gone for good.
Hope he is feeling okay after his surgery.
The hair needs to be away for health reasons too! You don't want an infection to set in because there is hair in the immediate area. I always hate having it suregically shaved even on my clipped down dogs. But hair grows back! You sure don't want to be fighting an infection strictly for cosmetic reasons. Sending good thoughts for your boy's speedy recovery & fast hair growth to help with Mom's recovery :)
Bless him, it will grow back soon...xxx Summer isnt a wimp, but my yorkie is dreadful I almost ended up with her booster in my hand!
hope he is feeling better now. yes the hair will grow back faster than you think, just not as fast as you want it to.
it's only hair...... ....I wouldn't worry about it too much as it will grow back ! whats most important is that Billy gets well :D ......if you don't like how it looks once the stitches come out it's a good excuse to dress him up with a nice coat or a t-shirt in a soft material so it doesn't rub :) providing it doesn't make him too hot
Poor boy. Hope all is well now. I heard fat lumps from another OES person. Are these normal?
Yeah, Jack has two on either side of his sternum, Mo has one along side plus one on her side. Old dog problems, nothing specific to OES.
