My breeder was feeding Purina ProPlan Chicken and Rice (I have stuck with this so far just because I did not want to upset her system) My vet says I can do better - recommends Innova EVO brand. (he says it is best for slow growth in large breed puppies) Other large breed owners have recommended Blue Buffalo. http://bluebuff.com/products/dogs/lp-la ... hick.shtml I am also mixing in a bit of fish oil (3 x per week) to keep the coat nice and dry skin itching to a minimum. And she gets 2 T of plain yogurt (also 3 x per week) to keep the good bacteria in her digestion. Would love to hear any food success stories related specifically to Sheepdogs before we make a switch and commit to a particular brand. Thanks in advance! Amy (& Abby) |

If your pup is doing well on what the breeder recommends, I wouldn't necessarily rush to change it. Many times breeders recommend the foods that they do because they know how their puppies will develop from past experience and observing the pups on it. My breeder asked us to go with her recommendation until we switch to adult food and then supported us choosing whatever high quality food we were comfortable with. I don't disagree with your vet that Innova is a good food but sometimes it's good to run it past your breeder first, just in case it's a food he or she has tried and has any issues with in his or her particular dogs. It might save some possible digestive issues before they happen! |

I agree fully with the above I see no need to change the food. |
