Now on to Valkyrie and Doubt . . . anyone seen these yet? |
|
I'm interested in Benjamin Button. I'm glad to hear it was good. This guy was so into it, he shot a guy for talking during the movie (and then sat down and finished the movie!).
Man shot for talking during Benjamin Button One review that I saw today described Tom Cruise as "disturbingly bad" in Valkyrie, which is a shame because I love WWII movies. He was described as too familiar, not German enough and his accent "deplorable." I already know the story but I thought it would be cool to see retold on the big screen. I'll still see it but probably not until DVD now. |
My boyfriend saw Valkyrie on Christmas day, and had only good things to say about it. He's usually very critical, so that bodes well for the film.
Being raised Jewish, something just didn't sit well with me, going to see a movie about the Third Reicht during both Christmas and Channukah, so I passed on going. Adam did say it wasn't a film you had to see in the theaters. He says it will be as good on dvd; so I can wait until then. |

Yeah, that's Philly for you! In all fairness for the shooter, the patrons in the theaters around here are just downright rude. I try never to see a movie on a Friday or Saturday night so we can sit in a less crowded theater. We went to see Benjamin Button, & it ended up being Saturday. There was a couple next to us text messaging each other pretty much the whole time. Not to mention the dozen or so other people in the theater doing something with their brightly lit cell phones too. I don't get why people pay $9 a ticket and don't bother watching the movie. We liked the movie too by the way. It was nice seeing Brad Pitt look like his Thelma & Louise age! |

People talking in the movies is the reason we quit going. |

We have a Premium theater here that allows only 21+ and it has airline-like 1st class seats; the theater is small and the people are quiet. But we don't go there much becuase they frequently don't show the movies we want to see when we are in the mood. Now with the big TV, it really is very very close to being in a movie theater. |

Now you need a blue ray player to really enjoy that new t.v. |
Stop that!
I just got a DVD player for the house last year! I think I have used it maybe 5 or 10 times before this week. I have been thinking about that, but I don't want to spend more money and I don't want to have to buy/rent discs, and I don't want to spend all that time in front of the boob panel (doesn't quite works as well as "boob tube", does it?). That $30/month FiOS TV "special" was soooo expensive... I was looking for a matching blu-ray home theater setup... for some silly reason Samsung has a matching home theater setup for this TV series, but it has a DVD not a blu-ray. What's up with that? |
our home theatre set up came with DVD too. Of course that means Dan gets to get a PS3 or something equally gamey to play Blue rays on. |

Kerry was not going mention the PS3 just going to keep it simple. I'm the same, had to have the PS3 "for the blu ray player". |
I can't wait to see this movie and the Tom Cruise one as well. Actually, I didn't care to until I started to hear how good it was. Guess I need it to hurry up and come on VOD since that's how we view our movies. |
We saw this one on Saturday, too. I liked it! I am curious as to how they made him look so small in the beginning when he's old. Great movie, though. Long, but worth going to see. And Brad does look perfect in some scenes.
Saw 7 lbs, too. Wait for it. No point in going to the theater, IMO. Any thoughts on Australia? Next one I want to see is Gran Torinio. Looking forward to that one. It's not out here yet. Has anyone seen it? |
Watched Benjamin Button last night, what a great idea! I thought it was really good... |
We saw it when it came out and loved it ! |
