I should know better

Lesson learned.

Last night I was chasing my little grandnephew(6) around my house threatening to pinch his butt :) We were having fun..until Simon joined in. I was chasing him around the pool table and Simon came around the other end and nipped him. His little face puckered up and he started to cry, went to his dad and said the dog bit him.

Little kids laughing, shreiking, and running do not mix well with sheepdogs. I checked the little guy over were he said the dog bit him and there were no marks...Thank GOD!!!!

We did NOT do that again.

Our niece and nephew were in for Thanksgiving, and they were wild! I worry about the dogs getting too excited around them, too.

I'm glad the little boy wasn't hurt.
yeah, getting them over excited is never a good idea...i did the same thing with panda a few nights ago....

i let her on the bed and then was racing around it...it got her going...she ended up headbutting me on my cheek (THANK God, it wasnt the nose!)..now im sporting a beautiful, albiet, small bruise under my eye...

Been there, done that. Thank heavens my co-workers have met several of my dogs so they believe me when I tell them what happened instead of calling an abuse hotline

Pam - now you know. Nobody got seriously hurt, thankfully. His child privileges have been revoked. Life goes on.

If he's looking for more socially acceptable gainful employment you can always join the OES herding lesson time slot on Saturday mornings

Kristine
Vlad and I used to roughouse and bounce around a lot.
90 lbs of bouncing sheepdog packs some serious punch.

On more than a few occasions, he bounced into my chin from beneath.
I was very lucky to have had my tongue in my mouth.
Serious injuries could've resulted :phew:

Of course, I was the one getting him riled up, so....

Luckily the kiddo's OK. Maybe your dog heard your mental picture? (pinch?nip?) :D
my grand kids were here today I kept Summer on the outside porch, she gets so excited. When they had gone my sister was still here, and started playing with her, Summer got way too excited but I stepped in quickly. You see a sort of wild look appear in her eyes!
I have been yelling the same phrase with sheepdogs in the house for a longs as my kids could understand (12+ years) "No running in the house!!!" It's bad enough I still have to yell "no cat!".

I consider it the hazard of living with sheepies. Glad the little one is ok.
Thanks for posting about that experience.
A boy was running at the off lead park a month back and Tiggy got so excited she ran up to him and tripped him over by bouncing around in front of him. He was upset but luckily his family have friends with a big bouncy dog, so his Mum was cool and just told him to remember not to run around dogs. I was hoping maybe they grow out of it but maybe not.
