At roughly the same time I had been in touch with another Oz breeder, Evelyn Copley (Bobbysox) about the project. The minute she heard about it she immediately and without hesitation offered to donate her own pedigree database. The two of them put down down the foundation for much of what the database held in the form of Australian & New Zealand OES pedigrees, as well as some very valuable information regarding certain English lines in particular. In talking to them, they both referenced this pedigree project in the works down under. I happened to speak to Evelyn just about on the eve it went to the printers. I put it in the back of my mind until Lisa informed me she was sending me a copy. Which she promptly did. And which has been sitting there, unopened, high out of reach from a certain OES who shall remain nameless. I wanted to wait till I could fully appreciate it. I opened it tonight. What can I say? I am in absolute awe. The simple elegance, the phenomonal quality, the THOUGHT and love that so obviously went into it. Paging through, all of those dogs, all of that history, the future, the show shots, the glamor shots, the fun shots, the way it captured every nuance of our breed's fundamental character with nothing more than pedigrees, pictures and names. I was in tears. That doesn't happen very often. It is one of the most remarkable collections of OES history I've ever seen. Lisa, I can't thank you enough. I am, clearly, not speechless. But I was. Another rarity. Thank you SO much for sharing this with me. Many thanks to also to Gail Kohlman and Evelyn, assisted by Belinda Lelliot, Peggy Giles and Faye Kohlman (logo by Nicole Jardine) for the obvious tremendous amount of work, attention to detail and above all great regard for our breed that went into this beautiful keepsake. And, yes, Syd and Babette and Momma Brie were well represented. Kristine |

So great to hear you got what you needed. Lisa has alot of info as do many others. GOOD LUCK
And Happy Holidays too. |
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for all your help too, it is nice to share info and that is what it is all about.
The girls did an amazing job, nearly 12 months in the making and since the last one here was back in 1991 no more lost generations. I was blown away by the production of it too. Merry Christmas Kristine |
That's so wonderful
I wish there were more thorough and complete records of our breed available. I'm a pedigree junkie too, and while I have many sources who can correct wrong info here and there it would be so much nicer to have a complete compilation of our breed. |
Well it certainly sounds like a tremendous amout of work and I am sure it turned out beautifully. That indeed is a wealth of valuable information much needed in our breed. |
Hi Kristine & Lisa,
I have finally caught up with your comments about the book. Thank you for the praise. We are all very pleased with, and proud of the outcome. If anyone is interested there are still a couple of copies of the book available. Happy New Year all and I hope 2009 is a far better year for all of us. Thankyou Ev for all the hard work in the pedigrees, a copy of the book went to Norway too, it has caused a sensation over there as well. You gail and Co did an amazing hard job getting another book produced so we don't loose generation.
So much is retained for prosperity and let's hope it wont be such a long time for another in the future. Well done to you all and THANKYOU so much, an amazing keepsake of our lovely breed. Absolutely adored the photos, especially the casual ones of OES doing what they do best, just being themselves. |
