Anyone so excited about Christmas

...and feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the preparation!!! I've gotten up at 3 and not gone to sleep until late every night this week. I have been nonstop ...practically running from one place to another to get all my tasks/chores done before the big day.

I just finished making all my gift baskets, and have about 1/4 of all my baked goods done. I'm exhaling as I type this. I told Mr. J that I'd give him a special something or another in a little santa's helper outfit I have ...if he'd wash the dogs tonight to go to the grandparent's place. I'm hoping he takes me up on it b/c I can only handle so much on my plate! We'll see... he hasn't answered my email yet.

This will be our first Christmas together and all the family members are excited!

So who else is STRESSED and EXCITED about Christmas!

All organised WOO HOO SANTA arrives tonight :P 8)

Went and got the fresh food yesterday, gawd the shops are packed and lots of flustered crazy agro stressed people.

This year not stressed yet
Beer and Cookies await Santas arrival 8) So if he is a bit off course around to the rest of the world Blame us Aussies :P
BEER?!?! So you're promoting drinking and sleighing? Uh-huh..... I see how it is... making traffic in the sky dangerous!!!! He better not mess up our chimney when he shimmy's on down.
you know I thought th ebeer and cookies was weird - and then I heard on Martha that the tradition in the US is RUm and cookies - we always left cookies and milk, wonder what kind of presents we would have gotten if we left rum?
Kerry is right on both posts I too am behind, did not decorate , am having my daughter and boyfriend over for dinner Christmas eve and cannot find my dining room table and my kitchen table is in my family room (Bob is in the process of putting down tile in the kitchen) nothing is wrapped. I may just sit out a bottle of Rum for Santa (hey maybe I will wait for him and help him drink it :D ) Every one have a merry christmas!!! Love the spinning dreidel :dreidel5:
Today started out stressful, raging blizzard and a full day visiting shut-ins. As soon as we started for the first person, the skies cleared, really cleared to blue and anything on the ground was dried up on no time.

Came home in time to help Paul ice the Christmas cookies. Glacier licked the icing bowls and ended up with a tutti-fruitti face....oh how I wish I had that new camera. Blue, red, green, yellow faced Great Pyr.

Too much icing for me as I sat down in my chair, warmed by the sun and promptly fell asleep. Woke up as the sun passed and I was cold. Nothing left to do! Everything wrapped, baked, etc.

JO, how wonderful to finally have a Christmas with Mr. J!!! and your boys, dogs, family all. Don't worry if you don't get it all done, you do far more than any single mortal can do already. Please just sit back and let the Holiday wash over you and remember why we do all this.
I am excited, and nervous. I'm supposed to go to Mom's tomorrow (about 50 miles) and it's snowing now with a forecast of more snow tomorrow, which will make driving too hazardous. I can go early Christmas Day, but am looking forward to spending Christmas Eve with her too! So fingers crossed the snow passes tonight.......

I may be 27+ years old, but still can't sleep Christmas Eve. I hope Santa knows where to find me.
Actually, I am on schedule for a change! Usually I am running myself ragged trying to do more than really needs done. I have just a few small gifts to wrap this evening & 1/2 day of work on Wed. :D Tonight I may make up some sof the snack items we eat on Christmas Eve. Son & granddaughter are on their way up for Christmas from Cincinnati. Usually a 4 hour drive. Last phone call found them just a bit south of Columbus after 3-1/2 hours on the road! 8O . They hit an ice storm & it is slow going! I told them to be careful.
Presents all wrapped, decorations are up and the best is two g/sons in their 20 have come to stay over Christmas, one had a 5 hour drive and the other a 2.5 hour drive. . A bit of baking left to do tomorrow and thats it untill we go to daughters for turkey
I had two legs of boneless lamb de-frosting on the bench, one done in Red Wine and Garlic, the other "Greek" style. Found one sheepie boy with paws up on the bench, licking the frozen legs.

Shhhhh don't tell anyone of my visitors, hopefully after 2 hours in the "Webber" the heebie geebies will be killed off tomorrow.

Sheesh you go upstairs for a shower and Lick Lick Lick, just testing what is on the Menu for Tomorrow Mom  . Thank goodness it was not a long shower :? 8)

Not stressed :twitch: Think I will just eat salad tomorrow 8)
I am usually incredibly organized, shopping done by 12/1, wrapping done, enjoy the season and do a lot of baking and candy making......at least one caroling trip and host a few get-togethers.

but not so much this year.

:?

I do the inside decorating up...oh, well...we'll say a lot and leave it at that, and that was done. My husband says we move twice a year in December. He's right. I admit it's become a little nutty. There are over 200 Santas in the den, 100 snowmen arranged in the kitchen, every room has a tree, the bathrooms are done. We did host a few gatherings and have two more - tomorrow and Sunday. The outside decorating is minimal...I just didn't have time before the horrible cold hit and it just fell off the to-do list. I think next year I'm hiring a yard service to do the lights.

I normally keep a spreadsheet and shop all year long. This year I traveled so much and had so many other things happening that I couldn't keep up. So the shopping and mailing was not until today, and I still have about 4 hours of wrapping to do. Tomorrow I have to clean and cook as Christmas Eve dinner is at my house. Once I get through about 4 tomorrow afternoon I'll be golden.

I wanted to do the Christmas card exchange here but I knew I wouldn't be able to manage it this year. Hopefully next. :)
8) Aahh to be young and still considered newlyweds by family members and no 2 legged children to worry about. Chris and i did all our shopping for our perspective nuclear families plus certain grandparents TODAY! Got everything we wanted and sat down at 6:30-7:30pm and we bagged gifts, as we don't wrap things b/c we HATE wrapping gifts so we get nice Christmas bags and appropriately colored tissue paper and viola, x-mas shopping in our house done; in one crazy fun filled day!

We both will be working LATE Christmas eve, so we're gonna hit up midnight mass and then x-mas morning is to be spent eating special breakfast x-mas casserole and opening gifts at his parents house. Lunch x-mas will be YUMMY pot roast and opening gifts at my parents house and x-mas dinner will be opening gifts and eating supper at his grandparents house. NO clean up, well besides helping, and we get to see everybody in one great day!!!

We decided to only put up our tree...well more out of necessity as i couldn't locate where i stored all our Christmas decorations and lights 8O And Last year we bought those rope lights and installed them around our roof line, so all we had to do was plug them back in :D And with our trim color, during the non Christmas months u couldn't even tell they were there :P The other day my mom asked us how we had time to put those up and i told her they were up all year long, she had NO idea. guess i can quit worrying that the neighbors think they were tacky

Now this will ALL change once my MIL and mom convince me to turn into a baby factory. Then they assured me that every single family member will be vacationing at our house for the holiday season :o I guess we have it coming to us

Bob is working Christmas Eve & Day 3-11pm. Tomorrow ( X-mas Eve ) my son is coming over and we are grilling steaks in the forecasted freezing rain. Christmas Day Bob will be here until 1:00 then I have a hot date with Chauncey cuddling.
Later on Christmas Eve I plan on going to a small one room, stone church in Eyler Valley near Camp David for late service. It truely brings you back to the real meaning of Christmas. They have no electricity, or central heat, light is by candles only. The facility is an outhouse outback across a stream ( they do have a bridge now ). We've been going for years and it does help me get through the craziness, and coordinating with everyones planners. This year I maybe going by myself which is 25-30 miles on backroads but roads I know well, I was EMS Chief in that area for years. I love the drive through the Catoctin Mountains and the drive is spectaular. It is the Christmas event that I'm looking forward to most, I'm just sorry Bob won't be with me..as we enjoy it so much.
awwwwwwww Christmas!
This year we decided not to do a thing but,
enjoy!!!!!
No decorations(puppy destroyer!)
I am loving it!
Having fun addressing my cards, that will be out
the day after Christmas!
I think we may go bowling on Christmas Day with friends!
:phew: No stress!
I thought I was really organised until Sunday when we got called to do a breakdance comp and so I lost a whole day!! Since then I've been trying to catch up. Monday I groomed and bathed Ru all by myself which was just so hard on my back. I went and got the food shopping after, I had to wait for Dad to bring home his food tokens which were our Xmas present from him. I would have had that done online otherwise.

Yesterday I valeted the car for Xmas day, Ru was sick all over the front room and had the runs, luckily outside 8O I did tonnes of laundry, put the rest of the holiday cards up, wrapped some gifts, cleaned the house a little, and made a batch of cookies.

Today I need to finish the laundry, groom Ru, make 2 more batches of cookies and wrap them as gifts for Greg's family, then make Xmas dinner for when Greg gets home from work at 6. We are having roast chicken with stuffing.. and Xmas pudding :D :D :D All in all I've been struggling due to an arthritis flare up, but starting to feel a little better now.

I'm definitely making time for a cherry brandy or two this afternoon 8)
