He was left along for about three and a half hours today, and this is what he did. He destroyed his bed that I just bought to go in the crate. He also managed to chew the thick, hard platic bottom of the crate into tiny pieces. No small feat at all. Luckily his stuffed animal escaped unharmed. PJ just seems to tote his stuffed animal from room to room to his mouth without ever harming it. I guess he likes it too much to destroy. I guess he no longer has a bed, so I will place his blanket in there, and maybe he won't chew it up. The latches that he opens are spring loaded and have to be fliped up before you can open them. He opens the crate with his paws somehow. Here are a few pics. How do u make them apear at the bottom without having to click on a link? http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286 ... ston/2.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s286 ... n/dog1.jpg |

our newfie eats anything I put in his crate. he sleeps on the crate without a mat - doesn't seem to bother him. took a bit to convince hubby it was okay. |
We've had holes put in blankets and pads too. Now they are stuck with the floor of the crate. I used to feel bad about not putting something in the bottom of the crate, but they like to lay on the tile floor.... |
Wow that's a seriously good chewing effort.
I had a black and tan kelpie who ate every bed we gave him including the cane basket. In the end I just had to accept that he didnt want a soft bed Ps he's also smart to figure out how to open his crate |
Mine prefer the cold tile floor or metal crate pan. I do have crate pan covers that slip over like a pillow case but no padding etc. They will allow those. As for your crate latches in the picture..... If you place a clip thru the part of the handle that hangs down & have it also go around the wire of the crate at that point, he won't be able to get the crate door open. I watched my one girl "paw" at that kind of handle until she bounced it enough to move it & get the door to open. Once I added the clip, she couldn't move it anymore. |
