Barney1 (i think) posted this question on another thread and made me think. what do they think? I know one asked us if we planned on building an adidtion to house Beowulf - think that may be more breed related than number of dogs - not sure. anyone else have any neighbor issues? |

I'll just answer here instead of the other post.
The neighbors on my one side have cats and never even come outside. They're a young emo couple and they don't seem to care! The neighbors on the other side have two dogs of their own and they love to run up and down the fence with our guys. They love our guys, especially Owen. No one lives behind me so that makes it very easy! Our extended neighbors always love the dogs. People come out of their houses to see them and to comment that they can believe we have room to move in our house with all the dogs in it. That would be a lot funnier if I didn't hear it all the time. |
On one side is our land that is all woods so no one there. The othere side I have a great lady who is 87 yrs old. Very rare for her to come out and again our side yards join with lots of land and trees. As for the back we have a HUGE big one and trees that boarder that. In summer we cannot even see the houses. I can hear some dogs bark but not often, We are lucky. |
My neighbors are great about it, too. They even help with the ever changing foster dogs that come through here. They say it's like living next door to a dog park. Their dog loves the benefits. |
I have roosters crowing all day to the left of me and sheep baah baah baaaaaaahing all day and night to the right!!! The neighbors on the left have their elderly mom living with them and she loves to watch my guys out the window I have 13 acres so I guess no one really notices my herd. I have 6 now (got a new foster) My one neighbor likes to go on dog adventures with me. So I guess they don't mind. They always like to look in my SUV to see what is riding into town with me that day |
the neighbors on both sides of me have dogs, one has a boxer the other has two little ankle bitters (and they love to bark). We have the lake behind us or infront of us whichever way you want to look at it, so no one in the backyard.
We've only been here since July and I've had many of the people in the neighborhood say to me "oh, I didn't know you had a dog." hahaha I have three. |

We have only one neighbour and sadly the only place to build was virtually right beside his house.(Theres a double garage and undercover area between the two houses plus the fence plus this end of his house is his double garage.)
He informed us ,when he found out we had 3 kids still at home, that he had told the real estate agent not to sell the land to anyone with kids(he didnt own it btw) or anyone noisy,or anyone with any pets. Sad day for him when we moved in,2 kids who played in the yard all day, plus one one teen (into loud teen music) and also played Marco Polo with all his friends in the pool for 9 months of the year, and a small yappy dog and a very quiet Sheepdog whom he always whinged about its barking(though it wasnt her,it was Little Dog). His solution? One day Little Dog saw him looking over the fence so she went and started yapping so he hosed her.Funnily enough, she LOVED it and barked like a demon. BTW on the other side of the road opposite his house is a CHILDCARE CENTER.He has whinged about that for the last 7 years, even though...it was already built when he bought his block!!! He has long since given up complaining. We do all reasonable things like bought the teen earphones, restrict the pool games to daylight hours, and restrict noisy games to no more than 2 hours per day, dog(s) are always allowed inside so 90% of the time they are,I never let them just bark, always go and see why, lets face it ,the last sheepie never had any idea why Little Dog was barking, she would just occassionally add a "woof" to prove she too, could bark.Didnt know at what. And I keep my music down and really only play it loud maybe once a month and always when I know for sure the neighbours are out. |

Grumpy old man syndrome. Sorry guys, and yes I think there is grumpy old lady syndrome too. |
Yeah and had we moved here 14 years ago,I had six boys of various ages and one screaming newborn daughter so it could have been WAYYY worse. |
No neighbors to the north and south, the nearest to the east and west are 1/4 mile away. And they all have dogs too, and are good with them. None are allowed to run around or cause trouble.
We are lucky! When I talk to people, invariably their 1st question is " I hope you live in the country?" It kind of irritates me... |
