Chipmunks? Feliz Navidad? |
|
Ha Ha. I have never celebrated Christmas but know a surprising amount of Christmas songs due to shopping in stores. And now thanks to you I have Feliz Navidad stuck in my head. |
I hate Deck the Halls...
there is something about FA LA LA LA LA.... that drives me crazy!! if the songwriter couldn't think of any words, we should't have to sing it! |
I don't even know the name of the damn song but it's some country singer talking about "if mommy meets Jesus tonight" and it was so clearly written just to be a cornball tear jerker, sniffle, sniffle, and I detest that kind of emotional manipulation. For a few years it seemed like it was on every 20 minutes. Way to kill a good mood. I'll take all kinds of Feliz Navidads and Falalalalas just to not have to listen to that drivel.
In fact, there aren't many Christmas songs I don't like. So I'll listen to them endlessly and the fast ones with a good beat really put me in a Christmassy mood. Of course, if they didn't start playing them the day after Halloween, perhaps that mood would last all the way till Christmas instead of fizzling out, oh, right about now I feel like we must have already celebrated the holiday and surely it must be time to move on? Kristine |
I hate the "I saw Mummy kissing Santa Claus" one... there's just something about the lyrics that seems wrong to me |
I HATE O Christmas Tree.... hate it. think the song is SOOOOOOOOO boring.
Not a fan of Feliz Navidad either, and every time I had to listen to it while watching the Christmas video for the Wiggles (son's old favorite show) ...I wanted to shoot the two people doing it. |
Kristine - it's The Christmas Shoes and I agree with you completely. The whole thing makes no sense at all. I change the station every time I hear it coming on. |

I'm with you on this one... We had to learn this in our German class when I was at school and theres a certian tree near to where I live and everytime I see it I can hear that songin German. I'll be humming it all afternoon now |
I hate "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer," "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Santa Baby." I like all the traditional, religious carols though. And apparently I'm in the the minority because "Feliz Navidad" is my second favorite secular song. |

That's okay because I just LOVE All I want for Christmas... I get a big smile on my face every time I hear it! |
The christmas shoes tops my list!! I think grandma got run over by a rein deer is funny but I don't count it as a christmas song.... I still love the chipmonks christmas christmas time is near time for fun and time for cheer |
Other than the Christmas shoes - thanks Kristine for putting that in my heas - I can't think of one I don't like .
so,e are so bad they are good - like Dominick the Christmas Donkey |
Ha ha-- I LOVE Feliz Navidad.
I've blocked out many songs right now that I can't stand. There's an all Christmas music station here so maybe I'll listen for a while and be reminded which ones I hate. Oh, and not a fan of the Chipmunks...and strangely like Dominic the Donkey even though that's probably the most un PC song out there |
Silent Night bums me out. |
The Three Tenors did Feliz Navidad and it was quite nice. Of course it was in Spanish and Italian, |
Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and The Chimpunk Song are top of my list.
I like Kristine love most Christmas music and will listen to it all month long (lord, do we have another thing in common besides trying to do agility with disobedient sheepdogs?). Okay here are some of my eclectic favorites and which version - some are very obscure: God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman (Bare Naked Ladies & Sarah McLachlan) Christmas Wrapping (The Waitresses) Round and Round the Christmas Tree (Bing Crosby) Beautiful Star of Bethlehem (The Judds) And I listen to the entire soundtrack of the Nutcracker while I decorate the tree. |
I'm impressed you can decorate the tree with just the Nutcracker! Takes us 2-3 days, but then we don't move real fast. |

This year I put the lights on the tree in 36 minutes, the length of The Kiks "Schoolboys in Disgrace." Not exactly Christmas-themed, but I was in the mood for Ray and Dave! |
I, too, hate Grandma got runover....and the Chipmunks. But! I think I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus is cute!! On the other hand, I love Adam Sandlers Hanukkah song, and an obsure ditty call, "We eat chinese food for Christmas"...that is my favorite! |
i love adam sandler songs....for the first time i heard his ''thanksgiving'' turkey song......just about died laughing.....
i like burl ives have a holly jolly christmas.... and HATE christmas in kilarny....ohhhh its horrible! |
I can't stand Silent Night or Feliz Navidad.
I know the reason I can't stand Silent Night... I believe we sang it every year in school. It is such a slow and boring song. |
I'll join in with those who hate chipmunks, grandmas getting runover by innocent reindeer, and I prefer (sometimes get annoyed) if someone other than bing crosby is singing a christmas song on the radio. ...just depends on who and how! |
Darcy wrote: i like burl ives have a holly jolly christmas.... For some reason the way he sings 'Have' (from HAVE a holly...) sounds funny to me and everytime I hear the song I focus only on that word |
Vivki and George, thats so funny, same here,I learnt German for maybe two years in High School but every time I hear Oh Christmas Tree its instantly translated!
O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Du kannst mir sehr gefallen! O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Dein Kleid will mich was lehren: Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit! O Tannenbaum, o Tannenbaum, Dein Kleid will mich was lehren! |
To make it worse, the class clown used to sing "Oh Tan Yer Bum" instead and that always comes to mind!
Joahaeyo IF you want to put yourself off All I want For Christmas is You,look it up on youtube sung by My Chemical Romance,I think its hilarious but I have had six teenage boys,my sons are 17 years apart oldest to youngest so I am used to ALL types of teen music. |
OKAY you are right... My Chemical Romance version is bad.
(I have 3 teens... I know all about the ranges in music) |
Run DMC - Christmas in Hollis! Last year I did a moving rendition at my sister's christmas party after a few drinks |
I hate the Little Drummer Boy: it reminds me of my ex.
I love Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols", the Nutcracker and anything in Latin. Willoughby and the cats like to hear the Chipmunks! |
Somebody has to ask,may as well be me...how does little drummer boy relate to your ex?Was he a little drummer boy? |
lynZoes, I'll never look at that song the same way again.
I want to know why it reminds you of your ex too. ...and I also am not excited when that song comes on. I really just like songs that I can sing along to. |
I hate the Chipmunks in any shape or form.
Otherwise, most regular Christmas songs are great. We carolled with our church for years - and all those traditional songs made the Christmas spirit real for me. Grandma got ran over..... - that isn't a real Christmas song - just a funny one. |
Well, there are things that remind you of an ex that appear irrational to the rest of the world. In this particular case, my ex was behaving really badly toward me and used to go around at Xmas time, humming this song especially that irritating rum pum pum at the end of each stanza. UGH! He ruined so many Xmases for me that for a long time I avoided celebrating Xmas if I could. I'm over that now but I still hate that song! The song brings back very bad memories which is why I avoid it if at all possible. I turn it off if it's played on the radio etc. |
With teenagers around, they bought Dr Demento's Christmas Carols, Twisted Christmas and similar CDs.
While I may not care for the songs, they do bring back some funny memories of trips in the car to see the family. |
To hear Chinese food for Christmas...check this out!

SheepieBoss wrote: They are everwhere! What Christmas song(s) make you want to run screaming, makes your teeth hurt, or make you want throw the nearest heavy object across the room?
Generally, I love Christmas music - we have a radio station that plays nothing but Christmas music from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day. The one about Mommy's shoes and Jesus does make my teeth hurt, it is too stupid and plays a lot. Kentucky is the bible belt so am not surprised it plays so often. LOL. |
I must be a complete scrooge - I dislike pretty much 90% of the Christmas music out there. The Drummer Boy is one of my all time dislikes. |
