But... my Dad and his "special friend" Sharon winter in Florida, and we have promised for 3 years we would make the trip to be with them for Christmas. It started out that all of us (siblings , nieces, nephews) were going to try to go. Then, work schedules, and other obligations took over the planning, and, it became apparent this would not be the year we could all travel to Florida. John and I have batted it around- should we, should we not go, for weeks. We have the time, but I didn't want to board Max for that long. (two full weeks) I thought my brother may keep him, but his blue healer Jessie just had a litter of puppies, and we didn't want to be party to causing more work for him. We finally made the decision to drive vs. fly, and take Max. So, the week of Christmas we are Florida bound. We need to map it to find pet friendly hotels. My Dad is very excited. We had Christmas with them on Saturday, and they left Monday. Got a call last night and they arrived to 83 degree weather in North Port. I am white as a ghost, and not able to tan due to the meds I am on. Very pretty. NOT. Max and I will need to stop frequently due to our various aligments ( haha) and walk around. I have to say, my arms are looking pretty good with all of the PT they have put me through. I may need to stay in jeans with the bright white legs goin' on.... |

The spray-on tanning looks pretty good, though burning would still be a problem..... |
Where is North Port? Two days after Christmas I will be in Tampa area. |
It sounds like you're going to have fun! Envious of you for spending Christmas in such a warm place too. I hope you all have a wonderful vacation and it's great you were able to take Max. Make sure you take lots of photos to share with us!

North Port is about an hour and a half from Tampa. Between Fort Myers and Tampa. |
Map your route so that you pass though here! We'd enjoy being a "pit stop" on your road trip. |
My sister and her family, as well as a bunch of other relatives live in the ft myers area. sis says it was 86 yesterday, but due to chill down tomorrow - guess you'll need a light sweater
My dogs love that part of FLorida for some reason the heat never seems to bother them the way it does here - could be the pool and the a/c. wish I could go on a road trip....... have fun!!! |
Ha ha! Yeah! Just swing over to 95 and come on all the way down. You'd hit a bunch of us that way
I hope you have a great trip! |
my mom lives in ft meyers! you should have a great time!!
loreals sublime self tanner spray works awesome.....secret tip to self tanners.... if its a spray...spray first lightly..then rub in regular body lotion... if its a lotion type...use a smaller amount mixed with regular lotion have a great time! |
Hey! It could have been the North Pole!!!
>>>still envious you will be basking in the sun. Marianne |
Lori just come down here and enjoy yourself, but be prepared for our temps changing. I am sure you will be warm even in 70 degree weather, but it can get chilly down here. Right now it is nice and warm, but we have a cold front coming in...supposed to be really nice again by next week.
Don't worry about the white legs ect, you are here to have fun!!! Just put on sunscreen and be careful how long you are out in the sun...we are closer to the sun. Enjoy yourself and enjoy your Florida Christmas! |
oooooh, I'm mistletoe green with envy! Warm Christmas, champagne on the patio, or make those Mimosas with FRESH squeezed OJ.
Hope the travel weather is OK. |

Humm-- this won't make me orange will it? What about my knees and elbows???? There is a gal in our office that always looks like her elbows are dirty- and it is from self tanner. I assume exfoliating and moisturizer is the key?? |
Yes, just exfoliate your knees and elbows well before you are going to put the tanner on, and then also I find if I'm using a cream lotion, just go lightly over the knees and elbows, so don't use as thick as you would elsewhere...
And you can always try a little patch of skin to see if it's going to turn you orange. Better to have a weird orange spot on your belly or thigh than your whole body! |
