Its only very slight and it has produced a constant tear from his right eye. He can have an operation to remove a small amount of his lower lid which will stop any irriatation. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this with their sheepie and how successful the operation (if you did it) was?? Thanks |

I have not had entropian or the surgery done on any of mine. I do have friends and clients in my classes who have. It is a fairly simple procedure and will save George from needless pain and trouble down the road. I would have the surgery done. |
we have a friend who had the surgery done on both of his sheepies........his opinion was it was well worth doing. |
We did our foster dog Monty and he was obviously
relieved.... You can even tell in pictures how irritaing it was to his eyes. It was a pretty quick surgery Good Luck! |
What it looks like, in a human:
Same for dogs, just the noses look a little different. |
Our Lab ( now OTB ) had entropion when he was about 1 1/2 and had the surgery and did extremely well. Best wishes. |
Yes definately get it done because over time if left can lead to ulceration and constant irritation on the eye and could affect the sight in it. |
Oliver has entropion in both eyes. His right is worse than his left. We will have surgery after Christmas. It is a relatively simple procedure these days. Our vet said if the dog is docile enough, they can simply numb that area, do both eyes, put a few sutures in, and go home the same day...both eyes at the same time. Definitely worth the money to do surgery.
We're on eye drops right now, to keep any inflammation down. Oliver's isn't bad enough to cause any damage, but why wait for damage is our thought. Good luck. I know it seems like a lot of money right now, but well worth the investment! |
Thanks for the advice.
We'll get him booked in after Christmas!! |
