I don't know how, if or why this might work, but supposedly if you click on this, oes.org will move up the list of 100 top dog sites... (Just to let you know, bobtail.ru (remember them?) is #27 on the list. Currently oes.org doesn't show up. Not that this is a competition... <snicker>) Give it a click, we'll see if we ever show up! Top 100 dog sites! (After you click it, maybe post here so we can all keep track!) |

I clicked, too and it took me out to the site. I checked all the rankings all the way up to #450 and we're not listed, even though 2 of us now have voted. Is there something else we need to click once we're on the site?
Chris |
Oooops... ahem: "I clicked" lol
It's probably just a matter of time for their system to update the listings. Who knows, I just thought it would be an interesting thing to try to show off our massive clicking ability! lol |
i clicked! |
IS that all we have to do? Click to it from this link? |
jsmarcus wrote: IS that all we have to do? Click to it from this link? I think so. I got a welcoming email from them that said the site will appear "after their next update", so I guess they do things in batches.
Click away! (and post... like ... cough ... *I* did... ... cough ... ) |

Here's some more interesting stuff in the way of traffic rankings (Can you tell I'm feeling a little bit bored today?).... I have previously endorsed the Alexa toolbar and the google toolbar. I run both all the time on my IE browser, and it gives me great info on google rankings and Alexa traffic for the various sites that I visit. Plus when I go to Amazon.com (Alexa is owned by Amazon) from the toolbar, a small commision is paid to oes.org for any purchases I make. (Don't worry, they don't show me who buys what, or anything like that.)
Well today I noticed that, according to Alexa, the "static" portion of our site (www.oes.org) and the forum (forum.oes.org) are ranked #1 and #2 respectively in the Herding Group in terms of visitors to the site. http://www.alexa.com/browse/categories?catid=239872 If THAT wasn't exciting enough... they are #3 and #5 in all of the BREEDS category!!! (the category that contains all of the groups) http://www.alexa.com/browse/categories?catid=8913 If you haven't tried the Alexa toolbar, a little link to get it is on the front page of www.oes.org (It says Stop Popups) which is one thing that either toolbar will do for you. Or Right Here should work, too. |

Click. |
VerveUp wrote: Me too. I guess they track IP addresses? I don't know, but if you mean to ensure that only one vote per person is counted... I doubt it.
I hope we'll know soon though! |
nowadays, it's hard to do anything fairly.
i know when it comes to school competitions (polls sponsered by places like Planters Peanuts and Kraft, etc...) ...people develop automatic voting systems. It can vote as slow as 1 per hour under different email addresses (can even fill out any questions) or as fast as 1 vote per second. It's hard to prove too unless someone is monitering the "speed" each vote comes in (which would give it away). In fact, one school told on another school, ....and Planter's Peanuts still give my school "X" amount of money. It all came down to "every school practically registered (and even had a shot at winning) across the U.S cheated in some way." I think when I moved from my old computer to new one ...I threw away one of the programs sent to me. |
I've clicked probably ten or fifteen times...lol |
Me, too! Click, Click |
Ron Don't you have to enter our site info first (register)
If you go to some of the other sites, pull up their page, they have a little box that tells you to click here for this website on the 100 top dog. I could be wrong but if you go towards the end it tells you to enter your site here??? |
I don't know how often, if at all, they update their site. I did register oes.org and the links I've been providing ( Top 100 dog sites!
) serves the same function as the graphical boxes you see on other sites. It may just be non-funtional; either way it was almost entertaining, and no sheepdogs were hurt in the process... |

I don't think they counted all of the clicks. I know there has to be more than 12! |
Okay -I think I clicked twice! |
I hope they update soon, since we should have well over 12 votes. I have clicked and clicked...LOL I saw that the Russian bobtail site was 26. We can reach the top with all of our members!!

I must have clicked 10 times.. Why only 12 votes showing? |
Somethinis rotten in Denmark
I have personally clicked over 50 times, WHERE ARE THE VOTES?????????? |
First off, I think we've been through this before with this site, and I apologize for not doing my homework and see if their hit counter is working, before bringing this back up. Now that I recall, last time we did this, the count stayed at zero until we bored of it. I went and looked and saw that we had 12 votes, so I thought they must have fixed everything. Apparently not so.
Secondly, it's very likely that they only count 1 vote per day per visitor, so certainly don't spend any amount of time re-clicking! At LEAST until we see them updating their stats. Thirdly... Thanks for being you and having so much "oes.org pride"! Lastly but most importantly, it's really not important at all folks! lol Clearly we're a much more popular and more visited site than any other sheepdog site on the web. We now have more than 60,000 visitors to the website every month, most reading things that you all have written! I don't know what that means, other than all of you have made this a great place to hang out and learn about dogs in general and sheepdogs in particular. Thank you. |
You mean we got sore clicker fingers for nuttin'!!!! |
