I do not believe that a little bit of peanut butter would hurt. I would not give him a lot. Try putting peanut butter over the small opening, stuff treats and freeze. |
I used to take a treat and shred it into pieces into the kong.
Is your dog in love with his kibble? I never see a point in adding something different "if" a dog is absolutely bonkers for his own food. Both my puppy and older dog love their kibble and would jump just as high for that as they would for a carrot. That's just me though! |
I guess the problem is that we have the xl size kong and the hole is 1.5 inches. We do have a smaller one, but I am afraid it is too small for him.
I will try freezing with kibble and a little p-nut butter. Thanks! |
ah! See, with a maltese, we have a small one! ...wasn't thinking about the size of the hole. |
I also use the cheese in a can. I spray some in and then add the little treats. Keeps them busy.
I have friends who make a paste out of treats, bread and liquid of choice - mash it up to make a paste. Stuff and freeze. |
Try the Kong website. I think they had some 'recipes' listed. maybe they have some puppy ideas to stuff it with. Tho' you may still need to use p'butter to clog the hole. |
when I freeze yogurt or a paste anything that might run I sometimes freeze a piece of Kibble or biscuit over the hole first (gluesd with a little peanut buitter or cream cheese.
today i wanted to slow Morgan down until I at least got out the door so I stuffed a rope toy in the bih hole ver the peanut butter (litttle peanut butter) anything that keeps them busy getting at the food helps. I also like the rope tug bottle that you can put smalle treats in for that reason - they work really well with Charlie bears. |
