I was thinking, perhaps this is why they started docking the tails of working OES? Otherwise they'd spend all their time herding their tail. |

Tiggy has a tail (a really long one) and has never chased or chewed it.
She'd much rather chase and chew the cat I had a cat once who chased and chewed its tail. It actually did damage to the tip of the tail with too much chewing. The vet said it was obsessive behaviour. We gave it some kitty prosac for a while and it stopped. I'm not saying that Bally has obsessive behaviour though, I'm not an expert on behaviour, and the cat's tail was bleeding he chewed so much. |
a cat chasing it's tail.... haven't heard that one before, and I've had some pretty odd cats! |
Henry used to chase his tail but stopped at about 4 months old.....now he just chases our teenager |
If Summer is in the kitchen standing next to me I sometimes wave her tail and say "get it" she runs in circles catches it, and then looks at me as if to say "silly Mum that pleased her!" With our last oes, Tilly the yorkie was a pup and she used to play with Katy's tail. |
George chased his tail for a while but then I think he realised it was his so got bored...... |
beowulf (not a sheepie) doesn't chase his tail -unless he is in the water. then its like a foreign body and he goes after it - so funny to watch. |

Continual tail chasing is OCD. Once in awhile is play. Glacier was a tail chaser until she got too arthritic to twist that way......or maybe fat. Every once in awhile she spots her flag and gives a quick chase, but can't reach it. |
Owen (4 month old OES) chases my Komondor's tail but not like he used to. When we first got him, he was obsessed with it! |
Ru does the same thing sometimes, only he walks between my legs, then grabs his tail so my leg is stuck in the middle of the commotion |
