My Cooking Progress Report for Tomorrow

You know what? Stuffing really shrinks when it gets wet. Luckily, I dried out two loaves of bread but I had only intended on using one. After I put the first batch in the baking dish, it looked pretty slim so I chopped up more onion and celery, sautéed and smashed in the second batch on the other side of the dish. One side butter, one side margarine. Intentional? Of course not.

All my choppable veggies are chopped so I decided to wait on the potatoes since it'll be the only "work" I'll have to do tomorrow. I'm just going to mash potatoes and bake the sweet potatoes. I only peel the regular potatoes so sweet are easy-- just a couple fork pokes and aluminum foil

I also made a pumpkin pie and a batch of chocolate chunk cookies, which, if I do say so myself, are the best ones I think I've ever made. Both from scratch, ladies. :)

Things seem to be going well. Owen helps by sleeping right behind my feet in the kitchen. I moved him twice and he came right back to the same spot so I gave up. I've gotten very good at just moving from the hips. Thanks, Owen.

Bravo!

What time is dinner?

All this food talk is making me hungry.
I licked the cookie batter bowl for dinner. Yum!
My Thanksgiving day lunch is usually stuffing.
Did you know all the prep work the day beore ALSO saves you money. Any day after prime time ( after work) costs you more and also a holiday the price goes up. I got all my prep work done today (ater hours thats 8 PM) so all I have to do is stuff my build, put it in my Nrsco and I am done.
My turket is soaking inn the brine over night.
Hope you all have a great day.
sorry bad spelling ,,,I am tired

LOL. I didn't make the crust but I did do the other part!

I didn't trust my sister.
I'm shocked that you're coherent this early

Owen eats breakfast at this time. I have no choice.
Good luck, sounds like you are doing well. :D

I am ready to start my pumpkin dessert and pecan pies. :D
Yep, dogs are all fed here too!
My sweet potatoes & pumpkin mousse pies are done. Turkey goes into the oven at 2PM for dinner at 5:30PM. 21.6#. That should give me some leftovers! :D The rest of the goodies get cooked the last 30 minutes or so. We usually eat buffet style in the family room but this year there are only 8 of us so we are able to fit comfortably around the dining room table! Food will still be buffet style on the counter. And the grandkids are all old enough to use my china, crystal & real silverware. I'll have to take a picture for my Mom in AZ. She is always so pleased when I use the china & silverware she bought me & the crystal she talked my MIL into buying me! :excited: Only problem with eating in this location is I had to wash the dusty globes on the chandalier!
Just for the purposes of closure on this, everything went really well. We had tons of food, everything timed well and tasted good. My family was very impressed. My mom showed up 45 minutes early to "help" unannounced. :( The food was on and ready but I had just gotten out of the shower so she got me all frazzled because I felt rushed. Overall though, it was a success. Luckily, my sister is doing Christmas so I don't have to do it again but her husband was like "Wow, we have a lot of live up to...."
Jill, that was a nice complement, and I bet they will try to outdo you. It sounded like you really had it all. Now that you have that sucess under your belt, are you planning on continuing your cooking career?

Good job!!! I HATE when people show up early. It happens to me every time I host. I time things right down to the minute, and even though the food is typically ready, I never seem to be.

Are you ready to start catering for others???? :D

Nah, I hate doing the dishes. That's the worst part!

Perfect! It ended up tasting just like my mom's. Maybe they were sharing recipes!
Glad it all worked out nice and yummy. :D

All this food reading is making me hungry (off to get a piece of pumpkin dessert......)
