So I am wondering if thats true, all the dogfood ads go on about the food having this vitamin and that emzyne, can this diet really be adequate? |

No, she needs a more balanced diet than just chicken necks. Maybe a better vet, too. The vet should know better that a dog needs more to their daily food intake than chicken necks. Have you tried a raw diet?
Try this link as a starting point. It has a pretty good general outline of dog's nutritional needs and where the nutrients can come from: http://dels.nas.edu/dels/rpt_briefs/dog ... _final.pdf |
have you tried a probiotic with her and slowly added additional foods and supplements? If she can eat chicken necks she should be able to eat other raw chicken. |
Chicken necks are OK for the protein and calcium but she needs more veggie slop. You need to do some serious research on on BARF or raw food diet. It will be a very slow process getting your pup's digestive system expanded enough to stand the extra food and vitamin supplements. Grain isn't necessary and may be the cause of so much gastric distress.
There are numerous BARF and raw food diets blogs. Do a search on Yahoo Groups. At one time there was even one for OES tho I think it is gone now. Yeah, they have 389 different groups that deal with BARF diets. www.Yahoogroups.com |
