Possible Earthquake

We attended a church service in Oct. and the guest minister said the Lord had revealed to him that:
1. Obama would be elected president. 2. That someone would make an attempt on his life, but fail, thank God and
3. MOST importantly, that there will be an earthquake here in the US that will register 8 - 9 points on the richter scale!
I can't remember the name of the fault line for sure (Madrid?), but its the one that runs thru IL, IN, etc... There will be massive destruction and loss of life. He said this would happen in DECEMBER! Make sure that you, your family, friends and foe know the Lord as your personal Saviour.

I know some will disapprove of this post, but I would feel horrible if I didn't pass this information on and it comes to pass. What you think of the information and what you do with it is between you and God. Better to be prepared - than not to be.

The New Madrid fault is indeed a very serious fault along the southern Mississippi Valley. The 1812 earthquake centered in lowest MO/NE Arkansas was felt as far away as Virginia. Geologic recoreds put it on a 300-500 year bang, but that's not to say on in 186 years can't happen. Due to population density and disruption to Mississippi river, it could cause more damage and life loss than the "Big One" in California.
I've always heard that there will be one huge earthquake along the madrid, and I do believe it will happen. I also believe that God speaks to people in various ways. However, people have believed God has spoken to them for ages and have gone out of their way to do the silliest things to "prepare." Losing their life savings, staying in buildings locked up until that day, etc, etc. The only preparation I believe in is ...knowing where I stand with the Big Guy. Otherwise, I do hope our family stays safe and if something big ever did occur ...He will watch over us. :)

The biggest earthquake was in AK, and they expect another one to come through again. ...just when? They have huge earthquakes that no one in the lower 48 hear about because from my understanding...they occur in places in AK with little to no population, so there aren't that much loss from it.

In most cases, it's what we call "schizophrenia."
 ...and there's that
Yeah, Jo, I should have said lower 48. 7 or the 10 biggest earthquakes are Alaskan with that 9.2 knocker some years ago. There was one earthquake about 1700 along the Oregon. Washinton Coast but other than geologic records, not much is known....other than another will probably hit that region......can you say Tsunami?? New Madrid was a paltry 8.1 compared to the 9.2 Prince William Sound in Alaska.

Of course earthquakes go unnoticed, caribou don't have cell phones. Alaska is 2x the size of Texas and if measured from end to end would stretch from the Georgia coast to California coast.
Pam, you know that you and I have some significant differences of opinion when it comes to religion. I don't "dissaprove" of your post but I do know, with absolute certainty, that if God has a message for me he will give it directly to me not deliver it through some cryptic wacko from the far right.

Before the election the local "fundys" were claiming it was God's will that McCain be elected and after the election the claim was that God had something "better" in store for McCain. MAYBE it was God's "will" that Obama be elected!!!!!!!! OR MAYBE, just MAYBE God has given us free will to make our own choices and decisions and doesn't care who we elect to be President, because this world is (after all) "temporary".

Didn't take a rocket scientist to predict in October that Obama would win and it doesn't take much of an imagination to predict that some hate filled person out there may try to kill him.

I beleive that earthquakes are predicted by scientists, not modern day prophets with a collection basket to fill.
^^^ and religion has always been used to explain away what man cannot comprehend, or to fulfil the mission of the organization. sdo you really think it is easier for a camel to enter the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven - or do you think it might have been a statement promulgated by the upper classes to keep the poor content with their lot?
I just re-read the story of Jim Jones and the 'Jonestown' suicides.

He convinced 900 people to drink cyanide because of Godly visions...

I don't know, but I think I rest my case.

I believe in the Bible...but the mis-interpretation of the Bible is rampant in the majority of today's churches. I would venture to say that not a single church has it totally right and most are so far off it's eternally lethal.

Jim Jones convinced his cult that he was God. All those idiots turn into God at the end, before they kill off their group. Oh, except Heaven's Gate. They sailed off safely on their comet.
I'm not going to venture off into comments on religion, it's more dynamic than politics.

But, I will comment on the public safety issues as I work with these folks everyday.

Every county surrounding the New Madris fault have an emergency response plan for the very much anticipated earthquake. They have been working on the plans for years. It's not a matter of if, it's when. If you live in the flat lands in the "boot heel" buy a boat.

Second, President elect Obama has been wearing a vest for the last eight weeks. He has received more death threats than any pending or sitting president.

If you want to include religion, send good thoughts/prayers for the safety of people that will be involved in both events. It's only a matter of time.
How'd he do that anyway? My husband is always trying to convince me he's God and heavens if I don't have half a clue...but some random that just decides to say he's God? WOW...
Oh FYI, all of us in the Salt Lake Valley are waiting for the Wasatch Fault to drop. It's overdue more than Madris. Projections are for the entire valley floor to liquify. 8O

Lol, the Heaven's Gate happened when I was in high school and was in a very ritzy subdivision of my town. Needless to say, we were inundated with news coverage....OH, and the next year was Andrew Cunanan who killed Versace...he went to my high school. Yeah, it was a good year for PR in my area
I lived/grew up in Crescent City, California. My parents moved there right after the big Tsunami. The couple that ran the lighthouse were in the lighthouse when it happened. It is out on a teenie island in the ocean...the only way to get out there is low tide. I got to talk to her...COOL.

And I just moved to Texas from L.A. in Wrightwood California which sits directly on the San Andreas Fault Line...just prior to moving we were getting a lot of activity. Now that was a scary place to live if you didn't like quakes...the last one we had sounded like the roof caved in and then shook the house pretty violently.

Well if we can agree on nothing else, let's agree on this. The world can't last forever. It's gone to crap and at the very least I have an OES who could care less and kisses me every morning anyway...
