I have a slicker, it looks a lot like this, I have used it, but really don't see the difference between the fur after that and the fur after using a comb? I'm using this comb to line groom. So my dumb question is- What is the slicker supposed to do? I seem to get the same effect with each tool? Maybe I'm using it wrong? Or perhaps it's just my untrained eye that can't see the difference? |

at everyone suggestion, I bought a slicker for my girls shortly after getting them. And I thought what you did; I had combs that were better, and put the slicker at the back of my grooming drawer.
10 months later, and I saw that video of Grannie Annie de-matting with a slicker. I gave it a try and LOVE the results. So my slicker is getting alot more use these days, and people at my park are commenting on how the girls look after I brush them with it. I think they look fluffier. |
I think that if you use the slicker with the same eye to detail as you do with the comb, you will end up with a fluffier dog.
The slicker has more wires and are closer together, it separates the hairs more. When I use the slicker instead of the comb, the fluffiness lasts longer. It goes back into bigger hair "clumps" sooner with the comb. |
Hi Cassie, I looked at both your slicker and your comb, personally I would not use any of them on my sheepies, I use the slicker from DoggyMan and a comb from Spratts which are ideal. Unfortunately if you have never been shown how to groom an OES then you can not learn it by yourself. If you send me a PM with your address I will send you a wire brush which is super for the coat and fluffs is up really good. By the way how old is Ru ? |
Hi,
Slickers come in many different size and strenghts, slickers work great on oes they take out all the undercoat nd the small bits of hair that could stay in with a comb. You need the medium one not the hard. I'll PM you the slicker and comb that I use on my oes and in my salon and never have hair breaking off. from your pictures they look to small for the job needed. please feel free to contact me if you need further help as I am I in the uk.
