Jere Marder SCREAMED "DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR OES IN THE HERDING GROUP" or she'll track you down! LOL!! |
oh cool!!! I just talked to lamluv the other day, so I am so happy that one of her dogs won!
thanks for the headsup!!! |
Yaaaaayyyyy!!!!!!
I am so in love with all of the Lambluv dogs *sigh* |
THAT WAS AWESOME!!! She just won here where I'm watching. I got so red in the face!!! |
When you said OES breed, did you mean to say Group?? That's really awesome. She does have really lovely dogs.
And Stacey, don't sell yourself short, your girls come from really good bloodlines too... and are also so beautiful. There are a lot of great OES out there... The Eukanuba voting thing was goofy. I went to vote before the group was finished showing, and the voting was closed already. It seems as though the most popular breeds keep winning the popularity contest vs. which dogs are really the best in the group. |
I think the judge likes the sheepie! |
They didn't show the breed judging, but I got a call saying Jere won Breed and THEN I saw her win herding GROUP!!! YIPPPPPEEEE!!!! She didn't win show...but hey...not a bad night for Desi!!! : )
Cathy |
Oh well, the bloodhound won. I don't know how the judge can pick out of so many great looking dogs. I thought the Tibetan Terrier was going to win.
I am at least happy that Desi the sheepdog's handler was holding the same Christianson pin brush that I have so that made me feel good. I don't get all the hair brushing while the judge is examining her while she is stacked though. Is that just force of habit? It's a little distracting to watch. |
One more question for you Cathy, does Jere do her own handling? |
Being the last group and going directly into another judging isn't the best situation to be in , especially with a dog that requires so much grooming, and you get in the "fluff and buffs" whereever and whenever you can! : ) There was a man that I just LOVED to watch in the ring...he'd take a swipe at his hair and then the dog, then his hair, then the dog...same brush, all the way around the ring! LOL! It was so much fun to watch and I think he wasn't even aware of doing it!
Congratulations to Jere and Desi!! Cathy |
Yes, indeed. That was her on the other end of that leash! |
I agree about the brush. It seemed like the handler wasn't ready (not that I show...). Not just that handler, but all. It was exciting for the sheepie to go to finals!!! It must of been the cold front we had. I've had the a/c on since Christmas, as it has been so warm. Now the heat is on, go figure.... |
New owner? How old is your sheepdog and what's your name? |
I have a female OES named Samantha who will be one 2/2. We got her from a rescue center in September. Promise to get proper screen name and pics up soon! I showed my son your website and the pic of all the sheepies...I hope that didn't give him any ideas ! |
Actually, I meant to ask for the puppy's name, not yours, so thank you! You must me psychic!! LOL!!
Personally, I hope your son DOES get ideas! LOL! For years I've been telling people that the "perfect" place for us some day would be our own town of Sheepdogdom. No cars would be allowed. Only a bus to give the hundreds of sheepdogs that lived there rides to the Bone Bakery the swimming hole (with it's own lifeguards) or just for them to sit in and hang their heads out the window. We'd have a "fence manager" whose only job would be to make sure the entire (20 acres should do it) town was fenced completely in and secure. The town would be completely self sufficient with it's own cottages, bookstore, grocery, hotel, cafes, groomers and hair salon in one building ; )and we would allow visitors to park outside our double/triple gated entrance, come in and play with all the sheepdogs. We'd have our own pilot who would fly around the country picking up homeless sheepdogs (Roscoe the flying Wigglebottom) and bring them to us. All the sheepdogs would be allowed to roam freely in and out of all the stores and cafes and spend the night with whomever they wanted! : ) I started putting my ideas for Sheepdogdom in writing when I was about 8 years old and updated, re-wrote them, illustrated and started putting them in book form about 12 or so years ago, but didn't go online until about 1993 or 4! : ) The Wigglebottom books and my site now support my different dog rescues habits and reading programs in elementary schools. So I made a business out of my ideas that supports my two favorite causes and I LOVE my job! There you have it! Ideas about LOTS of sheepdogs are a good thing! : ) The only problem I have is keeping up with the book printing. Take care and happy puppy raising!! (remember...the first two years are the hardest!) |
