Is anyone game to get a group of Sheepies together for the parade? We can either have a dress-up theme or just go "as-is". Gertie |

We'll be there, too!

Maybe you can get Chewie to come over and teach y'all how to work as a team and have an All Sheepdog in Harness Red Wagon pulling team. Dogs must be in hats and bells. |
Sounds like fun! I'll consult with my husband but I'm pretty certain that we can be there. |

I wanna see the people with hats and bells too! |

(The sheepdog goes by at about 2 minutes into it.) Yes, it does look remarkably like Chewie. Not us though! I bet that dog was hot - looks like quite a bit of hair filling out that costume. We do a St Patrick's Day parade in costume - I will have to work on some pulling ideas for this coming year! |

Huh???? I don't think so beyond the white head. Did someone eat your glasses??? Can't blame Sybil - she's too busy eating my sister's shoes... Kristine |

Well I have never stuffed him in a clown suit yet - or what ever that one was.
All that showed was the white head! I do think Chewie is cuter - non-prejudiced dog mom that I am. No eaten glasses here at the moment - man I would really be blind! (Comment in regard to that fact that Sybil is eating her "auntie's" shoe while being a houseguest there. My son's Dino ate his glasses when he fell asleep - while they were on his face no less. ) |

(Comment in regard to that fact that Sybil is eating her "auntie's" shoe while being a houseguest there. My son's Dino ate his glasses when he fell asleep - while they were on his face no less. ) Off-shoot of a private conversation - I was telling Dawn that my sister was ready to strangle me when she discovered that Sybil had left her "mark" on one of her shoes. I felt bad and offered to replace them, but she was still furious. I refrained from reminding her that she and her kids leave their crap everywhere and I had warned them to pick things up. When they didn't, I did, but I missed the shoe. My bad. To lighten the mood I showed her the corner Sybil had removed on one of my shoes WHILE I WAS STILL WEARING IT. I had fallen asleep. When I told Dawn, she told me the Dino story which I also related to my sister, but she remains unamused. It's hard to believe I'm related to anything that humorless. It's not like her kids are remotely well behaved. My almost four year old niece has been approached by several terrorist organizations for recruitment purposes already. Oddly enough she listens to me and hasn't had a single tantrum since I got here. I'm not all that fond of most kids and yet I find her absolutely adorable. It probably helps that we have roughly the same sense of humor - that of a four year old! Still, I hope her mother learns to lighten up Anyway, the parade looks adorable. Cincinnati is too far for us, but it's true one just never knows where in the world Chewie will show up Kristine |
please take and post lots of photos if you go! I wish Atlanta did such things!!! |
Hi Everybody,
Here is info. on the Reindog Parade. The address for the starting point and registration is The Monastery 1055 St. Paul Place Cinti, 45202. Registration starts at 12:45 and the parade is at 2:00. Due to limited parking in the area we are planing on getting there around 1:00. We are dressing Gertie for the parade, so hope to see others dressed too!!. We should try and decided what time we would like to meet. Gertie |
I'm certain Gertie will be adorable! I'm planning on being there but may not walk the route. |
That sounds like so much fun. I wish we could go. My sister got tickets to "Miracle on 34th Street" at La Comedia dinner theatre that same day for a matinee.
Maybe we can make it next year. Carley says she misses everyone. |
ONE MORE REASON FOR hubby to retire soon and us move BACK to Ohio.... Can't come soon enough for me! (only 4 years to go... but who's counting) otherwise Baloo would be there for the parade
I haven't been to La Comedia in YEARS.... *sigh* Enjoy your dinner and show! |
Good Morning All,
Are we still on for the Parade saturday? We will get there about 1:00 and Gertie will be dressing for the event. Hope to see you. Gertie |
Take lots of pictures please.
It sounds like it will be fun |
Nelson and I are still planning to go. |
Chuck doesn't seem to want to come. I may still try to come with Phoebe. |
Cincinnati rocks!
Have a great time and please post a lot of pics! |
We had a great time at the Reindog Parade! The weather couldn't have been better for this time of year, the crowd was HUGE and we even met a few OES that we hadn't known previously. It was almost impossible to get any good pics because of the crowd but I'll post a few here and you can click on my camera icon and see a few others:
Waiting for the parade to begin. We met the OES on the left and his owner (can't recall their names), then of course there's Nelson and & Nita and Doug and Erin with Gertie. Some of the crowd. Yes, there were dogs there, too. Most were small and in danger of being squished. Nelson, embarrassed by his "costume": Nelson & Nita. Gertie in the background: Gertie and "Guess Who's" butt(s): Nelson's costume being judged: Another sheepie sighting! Santa riding a Segway instead of his sleigh: OES were very popular with the photographers: View from parade route on Mt. Adams over the Ohio River to Kentucky: Erin & Doug's girl Gertie: Nelson and Nita pose with his "Honorable Mention" costume prize: There were three more OES that we didn't get pics of. Two of them were the dogs that wore clown suits in last year's parade. This year they were dressed in Cleveland Browns outfits. I thought the funniest costume was the dog (non-OES) with the Cincinnati Bengals jersey with a brown paper bag over his head. Bad year for the Bengals. |
That looks like fun! I wish Cincinnati was closer, we would have joined in the festivities!
So if Nelson only got an honorable mention ~ way to go Nelson! ~ what kind of costume actually won? |

A Whippet in an angel costume was the well-deserved winner. The owner estimated that she spent about 20 hours sewing the outfit for her dog. It was amazing! |
Hmmm . . . an angel costume would certainly be a COSTUME for a sheepie, that's for sure!
I'm glad it was well deserved. I always find it irritating when the good ones don't get the appreciation they deserve. |
Great pictures, and it looks like you had a super day for the parade. |
The pictures are great! Congrats to Nelson on his prize. Gertie looks cute in her costume. |
