Priest's wife was coworker, but she was down with a virus. She got out of her "death bed" to help. Hope she didn't spread her bug....... Anyway it was a success! Friday, a fast night and no meat or dairy, I made lentil soup...thank heaves for vegetarian soup bases! The folks kept coming back for more......including the priests who'd say, "Best Faki I've ever had." (I felt blessed) Next day quiches were over stuffed with mushrooms, bacon or spinach depending on variety. Gruyer of course, but oh the cost! yummy. I also made meatballs but couldn't use a tomato based sauce as guest of honor won't eat tomatoes. So I made a neat sauce out of cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup and a boat load of mild green chiles. Oh my was that good. One man owned a restaurant even came up and gave thumbs up on the food. Dessert was vanilla triffle, but I also make a chocolate version for those who believe dessert means chocolate. I'd suggest this for any major chocolate lover: Brownies....I used Duncan Hines super dark chocolate mix Chocolate pudding big box, the type you cook Cool Whip Hershey's Extra Dark chocolate sauce Heath bars, don't skimp 6 at least or a whole bag of the minis. Cut the cooked and cooled brownines into small squares, you can get 96 squares easily. Prepare pudding according to directions and chill. Assemble by first layer brownies, then pudding, chopped Heath Bar, Cool Whip and chocolate sauce. Then make another layer. Cover, let sit over night or at least 6 hours. It was so rich I was good for a few spoonfuls only. |
