.49 cents, but I've seen .43 at one store. |
I haven't seen anythiong under a $1 but I haven't really looked either - our chain supermarket does a free turkey if you buy a certain amount of groceries during the weeks approaching the holiday- we always end up with a free turkey |
I don't know but I love this time of year because after the holidays, you can get that super size thing of peanut oil for 50% off. |
I don't know either but I guess I should order mine since I am having Thanksgiving dinner here! I call my local grocery store ( have shopped there since I was a kid, with my mom) & tell the meat dept. what size I need & to put a nice one aside for me. Since I worked with these people 25 years ago when I went back to work (don't work there anymore but I do shop there) they always put a nice one back for me & start the thawing process so I can pick it up at the last minute to start cooking it. Sure helps out when the fridge is packed with all the other good stuff you need for Thanksgiving dinner! |
I don't know. I'm assuming more than what has been posted since I only do organic... |
Was at a Walmart in Martinsburg, WV today and they were $1.29/lb! |
is it bad that I never even look? I just get excited and buy the biggest thing I can get. For two people. I love left overs.
I'm also a serious turkey snob. I get fresh kill; organic, no antibiotics, free range, blah blah blah. I guess i expect to pay more, so I don't look at how badly it hurts.... This year we are going out for the big day. But I'll end up buying a big old bird anyway, and cooking it so I have my "leftovers". |
I LOVE turkey salad |
I'm all about turkey soup! |
No deals here yet. Todd and I just looked at the flyers in our free shopper paper tonight.
They are in the .99 - 1.29 range. There was one coupon for a free 10-12 pounder with a ham purchase. Will probably get one. We love turkey, and try to stock up when they are on sale. A local TV station did a test on the fresh vs frozen a few years back. Turns out the frozen came back as better quality. The "fresh" weren't that fresh - they had way higher bacteria counts. The frozen were frozen right after processing, so they were a lot better. It was very interesting. We love turkey leftovers too - in any form! |

One yr LONG AGO maybe more they were .19 cents and by the end I had gotton 17!!!! we had tutkey all the time. LOL |

I love having the big freezer. It has saved us many time when we had little money. It takes awhile to get in the swing of buying weekly. I buy only on sale and has a coupon. I love BO-GO's with coupons. |
our freezer now only houses dog food
FYI - organic free range $3 a pound here. |

Color me jealous! another thing to keep in mind while house hunting I had that EXACT though after reading about this freezer: " I need a house where I can put one of those"! |
We have a big chest freezer too. Had it before we moved here, and couldn't find a place to put it.
On a whim, we put it out on the unused (long and narrow) porch on the north side of the house. Put it up on wooden blocks, so no moisture gets to it from the cement floor. Turns out is was a super idea! It is handy, and hardly needs to run in our climate. Sure, it runs in the summer, but on the north side of the house and it is shaded by giant pine trees. And in the winter the "wonderful" Minnesota weather keeps it naturally frozen. I bet it hardly runs for 6 months out of the year! |
