I was planning just to use plastic bags since I get them for free, but I'm not used to picking up something ...so large. *grinning* ...that has to feel gross even if your hand is on the other side of the plastic? My other dogs went in parks that had people pick it up daily. Even at our last apt., there was someone who did that. Living in a house though ...it's just me and the soldier. |

That's what i do. Sometimes i line the bag with newspaper or a papertowel (just for that extra thickness ) |
I have 2 different methods of cleaning up after Merlin. We have 2 yards that Merlin uses. One is a 'dog run' that has larger stones in it and I have a tiny shed with a small garbage pail and I use a rake and shovel type thing in summer and in winter there is a spade that goes with the shovel thing. Since the area is not that large it gets cleaned up almost every day. The other yard is quite a bit larger, in there I have another garbage pail and we have a 'pooper scooper' it is an 'X' shaped shovel type thing. The buckets are emptied once a week for the trash man to take away.
We resort to the bag way if we are out on a walk and Merlin happens to go. (he RARELY goes when he is away from home) Hugs, |
Plastic grocery bags. The neighbors, several people at work and my chiropractor all save them for me - between Belle & Kayli and walks twice daily I go through 3-6 a day. I also use them when I scoop the yard with a trowel. I keep a separate garbage can outside just for the used bags.
Mom even gave me bags as a Christmas present; an excellent present if you've ever run out! Oh - I have small hands but haven't had much of a problem yet, LOL. |
Grocery bags, the produce bags are the best. I just turn them back over my hand and go for it. Having had a dog for a million years it takes more than just a little pooh to gross me out. |
Ditto on the grocery bags here too.... I pick up after the dogs right after they go, just turn the bag over my hand and grab and tie and toss. LOL |
We use a pooper scooper and have a doggie doolie buried in the far corner of the back yard, in a raised and sectioned off flower bed. Of course, if yuo rent, your landlord may not appreciate having a "doggie" septic tank buried on his property! |
