Back to agility

I decided that Miss Marley has sat around way too long this year doing much of nothing. I found a new class on Saturday mornings and signed her up.

We had our first class this morning and she was so happy to be back!! we walked into the new facility rigt into an A frame. my was she thrilled - she did a litte hop and tried to go over the Aframe.

the new instructor seems promising - she a national level competitor and is really teaching technique and approach - so unusual around here. I am actually in class with my former instructor  but this instuctor seemed to take an interest in Miss naked Marley and thinks she has great potential - despite her handler. this is such a diffence form my former instructors (nike agility). this should at least get us through the winter until we can get back to herding.

tomorrow I am taking Morgan to a rally class and mr newfie puppy to pet obedience hope thye go as well.

Cool :)

I am seriously thinking of doing agility with Bree, but I want to do obedience with her first....
The trainer that runs our puppy class also does agility with her dogs so at the end of each class, she'll be bringing out puppy agility equipment. I'm kind of excited because I think Owen might really like it. He's relatively fearless and loves jumping and climbing, plus, he's pretty good at staying focused. It should be fun. It gives us something to look forward to because Owen already knows all the commands we're learning for the next couple of weeks anyway. :)
puppy agility is great. we missed out on it. now we have a tunnel in the basement and Morgan taught Beowulf how to use it. yesterday B went to his newest puppy class and agility equipement was out. there was some great teaching moments cause all he could focus on was the tunnel

but when they learn it young it is great. Marley came running through a tunnel at 8 weeks and she still loves it.
Isn't agility fun!! I just enrolled the boys in a "new" class and they were both happy to be back and the instructor is GREAT.

We went last nite and she's splitting the class because there are too many dogs...there were 5 dogs, including my two 8O One person didn't show so that would have made 6. Nicole, the instructor, is splitting the class 3 and 3 so she can give more one on one. Simon is going tuesday in the intermediate and Gar, well he's got that "duh" thing going on so he's back to beginners on wednesday...Thats my dog.

In my last fall class at the old place there were 8-10 dogs and you sat around waiting for your turn. In this class, when Nicole is working another dog you work on your own in another section of the room.

In my last class, it was 45minutes long and this one is an hour and a half and at the end you and the dog are worn out and thats the way we like it.

I'm soooooooooooooo glad we did this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I'd toss out a quick update on puppy agility. Owen LOVED it and he flew through. The first time, the food was really important to get him comfortable but the second time around, no hesitation at all. Teeter totter? What teeter totter? He cruised right over it like it didn't move. By the third time, he ran the a-frame. The only thing he didn't love was the tunnel. He didn't want to go in but once he got a foot in, he knew what to do.

Owen is pretty cool. :)
What a good boy!!!

Sounds like fun. Pictures??????

No pictures. I was working. ;)

It's every other week that they bring the agility equipment so I'll see if James will come and take pics next time.
That is pretty cool. By the time Owen is a year old he will surpass all the rest of the dogs.
