Grooming Tables

So I've done searches on here, but haven't been completely satisfied since I'm not sure I want a 38" but a 42" collapsible one. Mostly because if we expand the fur family down the line... I don't want to regret it. Although I'm not sure the difference 38 to 42 inches means when trying to stick one in a mini van where the second row is occupied with kids.

Any objections to this one? Do I need an adjustable height one or do the normal ones do just fine if using a chair? Mind you, I'm not a shortie ;)

If not, here are my other choices:

Last question is, if I bought the first link/table, would this fit it just fine?

edit: maybe one of the higher powers can help me make the second link ...a link. ain't coming out right for me. :( everyone will just have to copy and paste.

I have a really nice adjustable-height table but don't really use the height adjustment that much. Actually, it has only been used in cases where we have a big rescue dog that's not used to being hoisted up on a table or dogs afraid of the height of a high table. It's never had to be re-adjusted for the groomer's height because I'm the only person that uses it. :-)

If you're going to use a chair anyway, consider getting an adjustable-height grooming stool. It's great to be able to raise or lower yourself to the height of the body part of the dog you're working on.

We have a 42" table for Nelson and I wish it was a 48". Some friends get by with 36" tables at shows so it just depends on the dog.

If you're looking to save some $$$ up front, you may consider not getting a grooming arm right away (unless it's included with the table). For regular brushing and most shavedowns, I rarely use it.

If I was going to buy a table now, I'd do what Holly did and get an electric table. Just don't have the room to put it. :(
My dogs are WAY to big for a 36" table. I'd get a 42" and 48" just because even if there's extra room on the table, it just gives the dog more room to sprawl out with out hanging off of every edge. I know you aren't a tiny, short person so an oversized table isn't going to be an issue for leaning across or even carrying.
That 1st one looks good. :D
I would order the arm as well. I don't use it all the time, but there are some spots that it is a lifesaver (backsaver) to have it for! It is worth it.

I even used it with Simon when I was training him to stand on the table to trim his nails. Simon is so short, having him up to a reasonable height makes 100% difference. I needed the arm, because he is afraid of heights and would get in a blind panic and try to jump off! 8O
If you are not planning on taking the grooming table to shows, I'd go with the 48" table just because it gives you more room no matter what size your dog. If you are looking at hauling the table from point A to point B on a regular basis I'd go with a 44" table. It is big enough for my biggest male. The 4" difference can make a difference in weight , space at the shows etc. As for the adjustable legs.....I am 5'2". I have no trouble with a standard height table with the standard height legs in most instances & especially for line brushing etc. The only reason I went with the adjustable height table when I purchased my last table was because the dog I am showing now is a bit more upright & when he stands on the table it is harder for me to trim & strip him. By lowering the height of the table, I can bring him down to a more workable level for me. I have a grooming arm but I really only use it when I do a lot of trimming. Most of my dogs are trained to stand for trimming. Ocassionally I get one that won't keep their head up as needed & they need the noose. If you decide to get an arm, I'd get one that you can attach & detatch (not one that is built into the table & removeable). Also look into the breakaway clips. I splurged on my last table & got it from :

I have no interest in this company whatsoever. Just giving you an idea for a table I have found to be what I was looking for.
Thanks!!
great info Marilyn!!
I have to agree - I have the arm and never use it - mine is detachable and somewhere in the garage. If you go to shows see if you can get the one with the wheels attached - its the one I asked for and didn't get (not that I am complaining  )
