http://www.wickedlocal.com/norwood/news ... hot-clinic Actually, I went to the Minute Clinic for my flu shot this year and I was out in a flash! |
|
I went to our local grocery store! I've been going there for years, and its quick (the Pharmasist gives the shots) PLUS they give you really good store coupons!!! |
We have a drive thru clinic here and it is great I just wonder about folks that faint after a shot driving away |
HAHAHAHAHA!!
I've given so many flu shots in the last week I have a flu shot blister I give all my patients their shots and many long time patients are now dragging in their family memebers because they say I give the "best" shot |
Ok, Ginny, here's a question for you.
My daughter recently got her first flu shot ever. She's a first year teacher and figured she'd better get one because of being around all those kids. A few days after getting the shot she got sick - bad, scratchy throat, congestion, cough, body aches, slightly elevated temp. I told her it was just a coincidence, that you can't get the flu from the shot, and that if she really did have the flu, she wouldn't have moved for at least a week. Back me up here, please. She couldn't have gotten sick from the shot, could she? I get a shot every year at work. Hubby refuses to get one, but he's just a wuss. He'll learn, if he ever does get the flu! |
Well........... theoretically you cannot get the "flu" from a flu shot because it is not a live virus. BUT if you are "coming down" with something the flu shot can push you over the edge. Every year I have a handful of people who claim the flu shot made them sick, and they did get sick.
But, the explanation my supervising physician has given me is that the flu shot can stress your immune system as your body developes the antibodies and make you more susceptible to a virus or gem that might be "lurking". So some would have gotten sick with or without the flu shot and some got "nudged" into getting sick by their bodies response to the flu shot. For the first time EVER (and I have given flu shots for a long time) I had a patient this year who became VERY ill after his flu shot (not just a cough or cold). His Dr told him it was from the flu shot, my supervising physician said no. But I had to fill out all the "paperwork" anyway. Annecdotally I don't think I see more people gettig sick in the flu shot population than in the non flu shot poplulation. Remember, the "season" we start giving flu shots is when the weather starts to get cooler, people are spending more time inside, kids are back in school and there is a normal increase in viral illness. So my conclusion is, NO you don't get sick from a flu shot sometimes you just get sick. |
You may or may not get sick from it, but your arm sure can get sore!
Hey! Check out the #1 result for this query: sore arm after flu shot http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=n ... r+flu+shot Right now it is: We just got flu shots and our arms got sore! |

I want to invest in the McGinny Drive thru flu clinic, knew you would love the concept! Free pair of mittens handknitted with every flu shot. If you can keep up with the knitting, I can keep up with the flu shot window. |
Sorry, not til I'm done with BABY knitting |
