The comical thing to this whole mess is that the car wasn't locked!!!! I had my car broken into last year---it was locked and " they" did more damage. So I decided to leave the car unlocked so that, if anyone wanted to get in and take anything..let them---these stupid kids didn't even check to see if it was unlocked... SO>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here goes..... another $500.00 deductable and not having a car for about a week---GOSH!!! I am SOOOO mad!!!!! When I called the police, they did not want to come and get fingerprints, since there was no witnesses (?)...They took the report over the phone!!! The report taker reprimanded me for NOT locking my car!!! A victim again!!!! I was quick to remind her that, IF the police would find these assinine kids and prosecute them...MAYBE car breakins would not be epidemic!!!! I am SOOO mad....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (thanks for letting me vent!!!!) |

I'm so sorry that happened!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. J's boss never locks his $$$ car either. His GPS (stores away and not showing) and things like that were being taken SO OFTEN in the parking lot at work or at lunch that he decided to leave it unlocked for the same reason as you. Now his car gets no damage and they can take the things inside that they were going to take either way. |
Oh Val! I'm sorry! After just having had my house broken into 2 weeks ago, I know how you feel! It really sucks. I"m sorry...hope you didn't lose anything to precious or valuable. |
I am sorry.
Let me know if you need a ride anywhere - like the hike on Saturday morning. Hugging a dog (or three) will make you feel better. |
I am afraid in this economic climate things like this will just happen more often. The people who have nothing at all will keep taking from the ones who have something. If only they were taught to work for a living, instead of living off of other people. |
That really SUCKS!!! I'm sorry!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Oh Val, I am just so sorry. Makes you sad and angry at the same time. We live in the boonies and always left things unlocked till one 4th of july when everyone in town is at the festivities and our neighbore 4 wheeler was stolen in broad daylight so we lock everything up. Pepole are just creeps sometimes |
Ugh I'm sorry that happened to you, such a pain in the butt.
My sister had her car broken into several times, one of which was in a "secure" parking garage and they broke her window only to take a pile of change that couldnt be more than $5. Sad. |
It is really frustrating that they get by with this crap. Sorry this happened to you, Val. |
Oh, I'm so sorry!
Yeah, there seems to be a higher incidence of this type of crime in these bad economic times. So lame |
The problem seems to be alot of folks out looking for drug money. My husband's truck was broke into on our driveway, about two years ago. All the contents of the glove compartment where all over. The Police said that they look for loose money or credit cards. We don't keep anything of importance in any vehicles.
My son was at his girlfriends house a while back, with my Mustang Convertable and was getting ready to leave and saw someone running rom the car. Nothing was taken then either, and they did track down the guy. These where both nice safe neighborhoods...but all it takes in one person to take something.... I am sorry you had to deal with this again. |
Oh, Val, I'm SO sorry! We think we live in a fairly safe area too, but you just never know.
My daughter had her car broken into in a movie theater's parking lot, under the lights! They broke her back window, climbed in and found her iPod and her friend's iPod, and also took some CDs. My son has had 2 cars broken into - one at college, where they broke a window took about 300 CDs, and one a few years ago in VA, where they broke his driver's window and stole his Sirius radio (that we told him never to leave in the holder). And someone in our neighborhood had their car broken - their insurance company told them they would not be covered because the car was unlocked - IN THEIR OWN DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE!! A scary world we live in . . . |

A scary world we live in . . . "They" didn't take ONE CD....I guess they don't like "Mob Hits" or "Sinatra" or "Dino" or my many Christmas CD's by the same artists..... I thing is...IF they would have just rang my doorbell and told me they were going to pop my lock out and ransake my car, I would have GIVEN them $20.00...heck $50.00 !!!!!!!!! oooohhh!!! I am sooo mad!!!!!! |
That really sucks. I'm sorry. I had someone do that to me once, too and they never even made it in so all they succeeded in doing was breaking the lock on my hatch.
I never used to lock the old Jeep that I carted the dogs around in but I never keep anything of worth in the cars. Someone went in the car and rifled through my glovebox but all that was in there was garbage and junk that I didn't want to touch. Well, all they wound up doing was cleaning it out for me because they left it al on the seat so I just swept it all into a bag and threw it away. Thanks thieves! |

I got a trash bag...picked out my insurance card....and the pictures.....and everything else was garbage!!!! Now I have a very clean, neat car!!!!! ANd the broken lock!!!!!!! |
Why bother fixing the lock? |
Ron.....YOu are a very WISE man!!!!!!!!! |
That is crappy.
I had mine brokem into at work - in the hospital parking lot! Same thing - the police didn't even take fingerprints - although there were very clear footprints in the snow. I was really mad, as they stole my tote box with all my dog school stuff in it. After putting a stop on my dog checking acct. I did get a call from a guy who was about 12 blocks from the hospital, saying he found my checkbook (large, business sized one) in the street outside his house. I got it, and several checks were missing. I searched in the neighborhood and found lots of my stuff - dumped out after they realized there was nothing they wanted. |
sheepieshake wrote: Ron.....YOu are a very WISE man!!!!!!!!! Well, I was half kidding. The cops might stop you frequently if you drive around with a broken lock. You'd better put a fake one in with some putty. |
Dawn....I think that is terrible~~~~ but that is what happened to me to! When I called the police, I told them I hadn't touched the car, since I am sure there would be fresh fingerprints ALL over the inside. They, of course told me they would not come out unless something was stolen that was over $500.00...AND the car damage does not count!!!! I am fortunate there was NOTHING in the car of value.
A friend of mine got his car stole a couple of years ago and his cell was in it. He called the cell and the dummy thief answered it!!!! After a very angry conversation between both, the guy abandoned the car. They never caught him. Ron---of course you were kidding. My fear is the car door is not secure and will pop open while I am on the highway...MY LUCK...and I will go flying out the door, so YES I have to get it repaired.. Thanks for the chuckle. |
You should have told them you had a laptop in the car...maybe they would have taken prints then. Next time, lie, lie, lie!!! |
