Oh no. He wants an OES.

Fiance wrote me and said, "I think you should go ahead and get an OES."

WHAAAT?! He knows I'm a crazy lady obsessed with the breed/all dogs, and I would do it. Someone has even offered to come to my town from way up north to deliver. OH NO. This was not the plan.

Why did he give me permission when he knows how "I" am, and I have a lovely friend who was going to let me adopt this summer? It would be cool if I was just wanting and can wait, but I think a few at least know where I post (off this board) and all I do is "oes thread this, oes thread that..." ...w/o me, I'm not sure they would know what one was!!!

Someone please tie me up and lock me in a closet until this month passes.

I even wrote this person and told her to tell me "you're not right for one of our kiddos."

I do have an OES calendar, baby gate, and for Christmas got those kiddo locks for the cabinets along with the plug covers. I'm not obsessive, really. The news made me run to the store and get several other things.

I will say I did write him back and told him to write me back with a "no, better not." This is too much temptation for me.

Doesn't help that my mom stopped by to tell me she would watch them since my concern was with moving, who will watch them on our honeymoon? She requested leave and will come to our state w/my dad that weekend!!!

Everyone scream at me and tell me to wait. I need to feel better about my decision. It's not that we're not ready. If I took a pic of all the supplies I got since I started coming to this board, you would know "I am an expecting furmom." All still packaged w/tags.

Oh noo.. Oh no.. I think I better go running to calm down. I feel so jittery w/excitement and confusion.

LOL
I think you are ready joaheyo... I know you want us to talk you out of this, but you are very well prepared... and I think you are going to make a great sheepie mommy!!!
Anyone you have said that you will get a pup from them in the summer would understand your excitement at wanting one now.... I just recommend making sure you trust the breeder you choose as much as you trust the one you had chosen. Don't feel guilty if you find your baby before then, what is meant to be will be :) Just keep being the way you have been, careful, attentive, and not impulse buy! Let us know how it goes! Have you got names picked out yet? *hugs*
Ever tought about adopting Miranda?

She's an OES mix in an el Paso Shelter. Where are you in Texas?
My face is turning so red. I am in my gym shoes and can't go anywhere because I'm too busy making phone calls to my friends begging them to come here (spend the night) and sing kum-ba-ya by my fireplace or something calming.

I live in Ft.Hood. I have "considered" petfinder, but I truly do not think that is for me. It has become so important "for me" to know a little about my dog's past/present. I can handle the flames and certain breeds I do not feel the same way. I'm even considering adopting a human child, so I'm not against it!!! LOL ...just not sure about this dog. I specifically was interested in crosses too, but "for my obsessive self" ...is not worth it.

I will hope that either this person wanting to give me a dog OR my FI writes back and says no. I am not lying when I say I did write them and tell them ALL of the truth, my thoughts, and to tell me no. lol

Here is my concern:

I know it "can" be a good thing that new puppy and current furbaby meet in a new place (new house we're going to), but I do not want to over stress.

On the flip side, my dog is a certified therapy dog and meets tons of puppies and we have taken several in with no signs of anxiety.

Another flip side, however she has been throwing up lately and I do not know if the move was too stressfull for her (as I stated in tanya's moving thread... my dog was sick). She is also having diarrhea. My mother thinks it's nothing. She has hard toots and then one more that is "soft" (not liquid). My dog has never had ANY SORT of "soft" toots before. Ever, ever. No change in food at all. No treats. I'm so stingy about it. She does get glucosimine (too lazy to correct spelling).

I am so red, I'm afraid my face will pop.
willowsprite, you've got mail (just in case you don't notice).
Joahoyo,

I think you're ready too (not that means anything)! Take your time and do it right though - don't rush into anything. Research the breeder (even if you know them from this site) through and through! I would also recommend you meeting the sire/dam.

Good Luck with your decision!

Kristen
With that said, I do have "another" side where I torture my pets.

see below:

suffocating her w/my stinky feet.
I'm sure you can never be over prepared...baby gates are life savers, and one can't have to many toys. All the things one needs for a puppy does add up, so good for you to spread it out and set things up before he/she comes.

It's also great that you got the green light to get an OES from the future husband. Nothing worse than not being on the same page. So if you have your ducks in a row, and have arrangements made for babysitting while your honeymooning...if you have seen the puppy, talked to the breeder, and all is good...go get your baby :D
Congrats on your possible new addition. I think you are ready too! You will make a wonderfu sheepie mommy. I look forward to seeing pics of your new baby.

It will take a bit more odor to knock out a big sheepie. LOL

Good luck and we expect pics!
Stormi and co.
maybe I'm out of whack because I went from super high/cloud 9 to now I'm almost going to cry. *laughing*

I think I am going to cry now if my Fiance writes back (which will probably take 2-3 days since he is traveling in iraq) and says "let's wait."

Ugh.. Ron has the right song. I am going nuts having to wait and see what the dice roll.

I love you guys for all the support ...and emails.
Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement. Go back and read your very well though out posts about Breeding and make sure you are thinking this through carefully. You obviously have a good head on your shoulders - keep it there - don't let it pop!

Kristen, Presley & Sydney
I think I may know why he has told you to go ahead and get your baby. He is thinking that you will have all of the crate/house training completed by the time he returns home and he won't have to help clean up the accidents . That said, good look with the addition of your new furbaby. :D
Betsy, I'm going to have to question how well you know my FI because you are DEAD-ON!!! LOL Is there something going on between you two that I don't know about? ;) ;)

He is the type to say yes to something like this just to show me how accepting and nice he is to something he'd rather wait on. Then he'll pull the "remember when I let you get Harry?" when he wants a motorcycle.

He said "yes" btw. He had some questions and there was confusion in the email, but we will try to work through everything and see where it leads by next weekend. I'm crossing my fingers, and attempting to dot all the "i's" :) :)
I think most of the women here will agree with me on this one. You don't have to know the man personally, just a man in general. I think that most of them think the same way. I say most because I don't want to make Ron mad :P .
Yup. As a fellow manly thinking macho guy, I would also want to ensure that all the HARD WORK of housetraining was complete before I came back.....

...from my cushy job fighting for my country in Iraq.

Yup yup.
Joahyeo- You can get one and send me puppy vibes, since I'm the one who has to wait now- My hubby's new mantra is- "not until the house, not until the house" to which I just whimper and say "yes dear"- because there's just no way it can happen until we get a house! Waah! Anyone want to contribute to our deposit fund?

No seriously- I think you've put a lot of care and thought into this, and there's nothing like furry friends to help you pass the time till your guy gets home- trust me, the kitty girls were my salvation last year!

Do think carefully about your breeder! I know you'll find a very special pup that's just right for you!

Karen :)
Look here ladies. I have had it!!!! lol

How many ways must you all butcher my name.

joaheyo
joahayo
Joahyeo

keep 'em coming. i can handle it. go ahead. impress me w/another form of spelling. joahaeyo means "love" "I love" "I like" but I have a jekyll side too!!! LMBO

no seriously, it's never been spelt right ANYWHERE I go. just thought it was funny how it was spelled 3 different ways just on this thread alone. ;)

next time i will stick to a username like "JO" lol

;)
;)

((possible sheepie love coming your way))
Iriskmj, if I am blessed next week with a sheepie, I will have only one thing to say to you:

na-nannna-boo boo!!! *sticks out tongue*

hehehehe

((hugs))
Okay Jo,

If you need a disstraction...how goes wedding planning? Is it almost done? or are you still putting things off? Share please.... :)
Hah Daisie- you've got it- I'm sticking with Jo now too- ast least I can't butcher that one...

Karen :)

And it's not nice to tease naaah (sticking my tongue out at you too!)
Oh, here's the post about your pup! I think you should arrange to have a very little pup in hand when you go to meet him at the base... that way he can forget all about Iraq since he'll be so consumed in housebreaking!!
Jo,
Don't feel bad. It is a man thing and it happens here too. My husband says that our dogs talk to him and he just interprets for them. Norman was asking when he was getting a little brother and then we got Carl. Now Carl and Norman are "asking" when Gary is coming. (That's what we would like to name our next OES.)
In all of my bravery I put my foot down and said that if there was an OES on Petfinder named Gary we would get right in the car and go get him.
So far, no Gary sheepdogs and no rescue people you can't stack the decks and rename someone Gary just because!

I also agree that he's planning on you having all the "little things" sone before he gets back.
One of my friends got married shotgun style before he left for Irac. His wife is now at home planning the whole big whit wedding for the month after he returns. He's even sending measurements home so he just has to step into his tux and walk down the aisle.
everyone who doesn't always go to this forum (since some of you asked in the beginning to direct them to a thread ....)

here are her first pics!!!
