Snowy Coat is commonly used for keeping coats white and is gentle enough to use regularly (compared to other brands of dye).
I use TropiClean - Awapuhi White ...and ALWAYS (each bath) notice the coat is whiter after she is dried. However, I use this only every OTHER bath to not over do it. (I know "you" know this but for lurkers, I wanted to state this is what I use on my white maltese ...i do not have an OES yet ...just it's a VERY common question w/my breed, and I wanted to share. thanks ...) |
El Gato,
A little while ago I opened the groming thread "White Whites" in which I discussed how I keep my Bobtails' white areas white. I recommend you give it a read and if you still have questions pose them on either that thread or here, I'll try to address them as best I can. This is an ongoing battle, especially as some of these guys/gals just have an instinctive radar to seek out mud and stains, especially after they have been washed and groomed. The most important thing, in my view, is to give the dog a good cleaning with your regular cleansing shampoo first and thoroughly rinse it out BEFORE applying the whitening shampoo. This gives the whitening shampoo an opportunity to actually whiten rather than have it's active ingredients used (wasted) in basic cleaning. Whitening shampoos are too expensive to be used as a general cleaning shampoo and do not whiten as effecively when used in such a "dual purpose" role. The "White Chin" thread also has a good number of suggestions to address that area of cleaning as well . Carl |

Carl Oooooh yes! Sky's dirt radar amazes me! Dancer is a prim and proper little lady, always keeps herself relatively clean, and her beard doesn't even get very dirty. Sky on the other hand, is my little tomboy puppy! She dives into the dirt at every opportunity! |
Where do you buy Tropiclean? Never heard of it here in Florida. We use a blue "whitening" shampoo and it makes Sam look like a Smurf! |
Oops, forgot to say to Joahaeyo, congrats on getting your sheepie, I have been reading all the posts about your "pending" new addition. |
thanks, that means a lot. i'm such an intense person eh? hehe
I buy the shampoo at the grooming supply store where I live called Wiggles & Waggles. She's wonderful. You would not believe all the "Paris Hilton" things she has (whatever she uses for her dog, it seems to end up at the store)...hehehe the shampoo your using sounds like mine. mine is blue as well. i'm sure they're basically the same. i found here here for $7-something. most other places were $8-10 http://www.animaltreats.com/at_dog_misc.html |
