I'm going to be in Portland this coming weekend, and was wondering if there was anything I should do or see while there? I'm going to stop by "Voodoo Donuts" (saw that one on the food network) but don't really have anything else lined up. I'll be working all day Sunday; any breakfast or dinner places I should seek out? And I'm supposed to meet some people for drinks; can anyone suggest a cool watering hole? |

Oooh, sounds like fun! No suggestions ...just have a fun trip! |

I wish it were more fun; we're going in on Saturday morning and out again on Monday morning. Sunday will be spent participating in a charity fund raiser, raising money and awareness for Domestic Violence Shelters and a Womens' Crisis Hotline. The event is called Wonder Woman Day, and as Adam was the artist on 5 years worth (something like 50 covers) of DC Comics' Wonder Woman book, he's one of the guests for the event. I'm the only woman artist they could lure in, so I get 4th billing after Adam, another Wonder Woman artist (the guy currently on the book, Aaron Lopresti), and the current Wonder Woman writer, a lovely lady named Gail Simone. I'm thrilled to be involved in the effort; i just wish that for so much travel (its going to be 7 hours in transit) we could have a little more time in Portland to check out the sites. |

see I assumed Oregon and then thought - wait a minute.... |
D'oh! I should have said Oregon!!! Sorry!!!! |
I knew the minute VooDoo Doughnuts was mentioned Yum. Wish I had recommendations. Everytime I hit Portland, it's a trip just like yours. In, work, work, work, out. Portland is a lovely city. Good luck with the fund raiser. |
Hmm, its not food but I would go to Powells book store if I had a free evening. But then I could just live in the store and be very happy. Have fun! I love Portland. |
we LOVE book stores! I'll see if I can find an address online; thanks! |
Seeing I've never heard of Portland, Maine, I assumed Oregon!
Have fun, take pictures! |
Easteners think Maine, Westeners think Oregon
Hope you like beer and coffee. And stairs. Sorry you won't have more time there, I understand from many it's a wonderful town. Lots of micrbreweries, coffee shops, Voodoo of course for a late night snack, Powells for diving into the stacks, ethnic restaurants galore. Moving into winter wet weather, hope you get some dry days. Enjoy. Hmmm, has Rachael Ray done one of her $40 a day shows in Portland?? Yes. http://www.foodnetwork.com/40-a-day/portland-oregon/index.html |
I'll pass on the beer. But coffee shops and book stores are a couple of my favorite things. I'm sure we'll have some fun in our limited time there. |
