I've had this and the bacon is a great addition, tho 10 slices isn't necessary. Like you, I'd cut the mayo way back too.
Thanks for the recipe, I've wondered about it. |
Hmm, since mayo is gross, I wonder if some nonfat plain yogurt would work for this... |

I have used the yogurt but I never heard of putting the grapes or sunflower seeds in. I'll have to try that the next time I make it. |
even bacon added wouldnt make brian eat this.....lol....it sounds really good but alas he HATES those ''trees'' |
We love this! I have used yogart-- not bad.
Mayo rocks! |
I have a recipe almost identical to this.. We love it. Here's how I made it: incase someone wants a different version. I think both are fantastic!!
Salad 2 heads broccoli ~ cut up 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese 1/2 lb bacon - cooked & crumbled (reserve a little for garnish) 1 small red onion cut into rings Dressing 1 cup mayo 2 TBL red wine vinegar 1/3 cup sugar Combine salad ingredients and store in fridge Combine dressing ingredients in bowl with lid. Store in fridge. Just before serving toss with dressing and garnish with reserved bacon. |
Mine is very similar too - no grapes, add pecans.
2 bunches (no stems) broccoli - chopped fine 1/2 cup red pepper - chopped fine 1 small purple onion - chopped fine 1 cup raisins 1 cup sunflower seeds 1/2 cup pecan halves Bag up these items Dressing: 1 cup Mayo 1/3 cup sugar 3 teaspoons vinegar Refrigerate dressing Fry 1 pound bacon - crumble 2 hours before serving, mix everything together. |
So funny, Broc is the only veggie my husband will eat willingly... and he has to cover it in mayo... gross
Me, I never met a veggie I didnt' like... or wouldn't eat... I usually eat them naked.. or with a light driz of extra virgin olive oil and a bit of fresh ground pepper |
I love all veggies too, this sounds really good! |
