I woke up this morning and went online to read the local paper. There- I saw that one of our good friends son's had passed away. He was only 40, and died unexpectedly. We don't know how- and attempts to reach his Aunt ( my best friend growing up) have been unsuccessful. My Mom is on her way to his Grandparents house, to offer symapthy and find out what in the world happened to Todd. He was the ring bearer in our wedding. It has been such a shock, and our hearts are very heavy. While I was on the phone talking to my sister about this, my Dad was ringing in. Switched lines to hear the news that his girl friend's twin sister had been taken by lifeflight this morning to a Columbus Hospital-- of all things, she has had a STROKE. She is one of my best friends, and she and I worked to fix up Dad and her sister Sharon. Our hearts got even heavier. THEN-- while we were realing from all of this terrible news, the phone rings-- and it is John's Mom. She , her husband and John's brother Jimmy ( who was so very sick with septic shock just weeks ago) left on Wednesday for a short trip to KY-- to see MIL's brother and his family. Jimmy, who has been bothered with cellulitis (sp) for a while, had a really bad flare up, and was admitted to the hospital in Owensboro yesterday. He also had a very bad infection in the area where they had harvested the vein for his bypass surgery. They did surgery last night on that area of his leg, to put in a drain tube and packing. He will be in the hospital until at least Wednesday. THEN-- this morning, Charlie ( the husband) woke up with a racing heart, and sweating. A trip to the hospital, calls to his cardiologist here in Ohio and a catheterazation later-- he is going to have a pacemaker put in on Monday. While we were absorbing all of this-- we got a call from Charlie's son - telling us that his son's little boy ( who is 2) had been hurt in a freak accident. A four wheeler had turned over on him and he was in Dayton's Children hospital with two collapsed lungs. I will with hold my thoughts and comments of a child that age on a four wheeler. I hope to feel well enough to go tomorrow and see my friend that had the stroke. Ironically, I can symphathize with her a bit. They say she is doing much better tonight. John's Mom, Charlie and Jimmy are going to need help. Thankfully they are close to family, and seem to be happy with the care of the doctors and hospital in KY. We will have to let other family members make the trip to bring them home. |
