Yeuck - why do they roll in things!

We were out on a nice walk this morning, when in the one field Archie starts rolling - Fox poo me thinks?

Told him NO - off he trotted :)

I walked to where he was rolling, at first I thought oh no a cow pat, but it gets worse, it was a flattened Badger

ewwwwwwwwwwww

I suppose I should be grateful he didn't walk off with it in his mouth! 8O

That is indeed nasty.

Our worst one was winter killed carp from the lake behind our farm. The labs brought one up in the yard so the rest could roll in it too!!
Luna rolled in a dead squirrel not that long ago. I think it was because she wanted me to bathe her. She got her wish.
There was a dead hedgehog on our walk, and every day Summer knew exactly where it was. I think thats where she got her last tummy upset from....
you should me in the garden first thing in the morning trying to beat her to the bottom of the garden, me in my pjs with shovel in hand yorkie at our heels, to see if next doors blasted cats have pooed....she doesnt roll in it, she.......eats it! yuck
I like to tell Tonks " The cat litter box is NOT a cookie jar!
Every so often I'd come home and notice Fox was sporting a nice green shoulder........he found something delightful and skidded through it. He was always so proud.
Eww!
Our previous dogs would roll in Kangaroo Poo .....or my favourite ....freshly cut grass!!!

OK, I generally have a don't-ask-don't-tell policy when it comes to my rollers, but I have some idea of what their favorite things to roll in are, and, obviously, in Wisconsin, kangaroo poo is not one of them.   Belle is very envious and now wishes to schedule an extended visit to Oz.

When she was younger and I was planning my theft of her, I had to wait for her (now) co-owners to stop showing her in breed. She finished her American breed championship as a youngster, but they wanted to finish her in Canada too. Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right in getting up there, so she was going on three by the time a Canadian national was in easy driving distance. They went up, spent a long weekend and finished her.

In the mean time it was "you can't do this with her", "you can't do that with her" due to her *(&^*& coat.   So the weekend she came back from Canada, with the coat restrictions now lifted, I took her to a beach on Lake Michigan to let her run and play.

It was early one Sunday morning, we were alone, and in honor of her newfound freedom I decided to loudly proclaim her emancipation to the wind, surf and seagulls with the following (borderline blasphemous) words:

Free at last! Free last!
Thank God Almighty, Free at last!

As I said the final syllable I turned to find her rolling on a huge, dead carp. I suppose there was something appropriately poetic in her actions, but I took her home and bathed her anyway...

There's only so much freedom you can live with, up close and personal anyway

Eau De La PHEW (Doggie Perfume) they can't resist it.

Mine well let's see :lmt: Worst was fresh cow poo, you know that nice green slimy one :twitch: We had to throw one sheepie girl in the dam to get rid of some of it before putting her in the car to take home and OH windows open and heads hanging out on the 3 hour drive home

Possum Poo
Dead decaying possum
Roo Poo
Koala poo and
Dead Bird are just some of the fragrances over the years the girls have found to roll in
Simon found something...in a Kansas park. After being in the car all day I thought it would be nice to find somewhere where they could run a little. We found a nice little park and threw the ball for Taylor and turned around and Simon had stopped, dropped and rolled. We cleaned him as best we could with hand wipes BEFORE getting back in the car and rode with the windows open and heads out till we got back to the motel we were staying at and asked for lots of towels. Simon could not understand why we were washing off his lovely phewferm!
On Friday we were leaving town for a wedding at noon. I decide to take at 9:00 am Miley to the dog park before the 2 hr car ride. Dog park is border by 2 rivers and the duck/geese have been getting the fish and eating some but not all of the fish. Miley rolls in dead fish. We spent a good 2 hrs at the dog park so I have 1 to pack and wash & dry Miley if we want to survive the smell in the car. Thank goodness for dog washes with dog dryers. I really need a dog dryer!!! We only we a little bit late.

So why do they roll in these things???

I really don't mind the grooming - I find it relaxing. Some people knit - I groom. But some days I do wonder what those sheepie are thinking.
