Should I worry? |

Oops. As you know, chocolate can be dangerous for dogs, but a Snickers bar doesn't contain that much, and it's milk chocolate, rather than dark. I'd be more concerned about pancreatitis from the high fat content than chocolate toxicity. Some of the symptoms of pancreatitis are lethargy, excessive vomiting, loose, yellow stool, or a hunched up posture.
You might just want to call your vet and ask about this. Hopefully, this will pass quickly, and she'll be fine. Laurie and Oscar |
I called the vet and let the know that my dog ate a snickers bar. They asked me how much does she weigh - 30lbs - and how big was the cnady bar - 3.70 oz (which she only ate half).
With that information they didn't seem concerned about it because they said for it to be a lethal amount she would have needed to eat 28oz of chocolate. Then I told her Luna was only 4 months and then she said that I needed to bring her in. But she's actually 5 months. Does that 1 month make a difference? |
I would call back and tell them how much she weighs. they can tell you from that. I can't give you medical advice but a second call to the vet (assuming they are a distance) is worth making before you take her in - of course I have been to the vets three times in the last 6 days - I am still lobbying fo ra plaque on exam room 1 dedicating it to my two dog s- I am sure they have paid for it. |
my girls turn a year old this week, and we've yet to make it a month without a vet visit. We got close though; we had to go in the other day (ear infection) and we were at day 28 since our last visit. So close.
I like to error on the side of caution, especially with puppies. I'm sure once they are grown, I'll have a better idea of what they can and cannot handle. That may be why the vet wanted to see your pup once they learned her age. |
^^
we seem to go in spurts - there constantly for a month or two and then a few months off - but my guys are older so you may get your one month vet free yet! |

I know I paid for the new furniture in the waiting room of our vet's office. And I was disappointed when they added some new steps without informing me first! I told them since I had most likely paid for that too I would have very gladly brought my stencil down so we could have painted on it "donated by (kennelname)"! They just shook their head & laughed. But honestly, I didn't know what to think when they called me by my 1st name Tuesday instead of "Mrs." like they have for years! |
We are our vet's favorite clients. They are great about fitting us in when we call with an emergency.
My vet moved his practice closer to us last year. Now we're only 3 blocks away instead of 3 miles away. that was very nice of him, wasn't it? |
the vet called me this morning - still having issues with Morgan - and said hi this is dr Hals.. oh kerry - I forgot who I called whats up?
When I went in two weeks ago and they were getting names from people in the waiting room they just said hi kerry - bring marley in the back door - I assurred people they didn't want to be that recognizable. Wensday when Morgan got sick again I called at 8am when the rceptionist comes in and told her my issue - I got to bring him in before the dr started surgery and only be an hour late for work, so there are some perks |
